I don't know what you are roasting on but guessing a Behmor because you said door. If it's a 1600 plus model you can manually adjust the temperature late in the roast for a more consistent result. If it's not a plus model, you can get an upgrade panel in BeanBay or just try roasting with the door closed before adding someone else's variables like opening the door for a couple of minutes (which will stall the roast).
Colour scale... you can print it at officeworks or just display it on your PC or even send the image to your phone and drop it in the beans.
When learning to roast, keep it simple, take lots of notes and you'll develop your own tip, tricks, methods that get the best result for your tastes in no time.

Thanks, I will need to make my way up to office works or something as I don’t have a colour printer.
the guy I bought it off, recommended I open the door post first crack for a couple of minutes to drop the temp and extend second crack. Will need to research alternatives to that then.

See post #3 above. Print the card or open it on your computer and you can tell us what the colour is.Originally posted by Rami View Posthere are all three, any guess what the CS ratings would be ?
Your last 3 photos look nothing like the first two... that's the point of YOU looking at the scale locally.

Don't do that. You are just introducing randomness and unrepeatability while you are trying to learn!with the door open for a couple of minutes

True true. I am going to take one into second crack and see the difference of all three.

I am a newby myself. They both look good to me. You cannot take too much notice of your pics as mine came out lighter than in real life. Ultimately it is the taste that counts. After they have rested you will be able to see what suits you best after a few brews. I suppose repeatability is the trick, remembering what you did to get that great coffee.

Also pretty new to the game, and hard to tell sometimes with the light, but looks ok to me?
Depends what you mean by dark enough and what you want to get out of them though... Certainly an interesting game of trial and error and finding what works for you.
