  • Old USB DMM and RoastMonitor

Thanks for the explanation. I have a related question. I have always used Roast Monitor with my Hottop roaster to monitor and record the roasts. My roaster has a standard multimeter mod to record bean temp with the USB plugging directly into my laptop. I've recently upgraded my laptop and now roast monitor won't install. Do I need a heatsnob device for it to now work?

    Cheers

double_shot (moved to it's own thread as it's not even vaguely related to Artisan and HeatSnob!)

The old USB meters had their own version RoastMonitor.
From memory the latest version for them was 2.42 which is really old (we are 22 versions in front of that now) but it should work

Using a HeatSnob will give more accurate and more stable results along with better software and the additional years of development. It's also known to work in current environments.

...but if you are still using a USB Digital Multimeter (DMM) the above link might help but please understand, Java, Windows and everything else that's changed since way back in the DMM days might mean it won't work, it's untested and unsupported but I wish you luck!

Thanks Andy for both moving the post and the reply!

That works and will get me out of trouble for now while I move to the updated hardware / software.

      Cheers

That's great news that it works!
I'm a bit surprised as Windows, Java and RoastMonitor have changed a lot in all those years and I was pretty sure it would just be a series of headaches to get the old meter working in a new environment if it even would.
        Happy roasting!
