  • Chaff Cleaning from Roaster

    Hello,
I'm wondering what everyone uses to blow out residual chaff after roasting? I have a Hottop and usually clean the chaff tray and then blast out the remainder with a can of Airduster or similar. I'd rather not be using cans so am looking to purchase an electric air duster similar to what is used to clean computers. Has anyone tried this or something else that works very well rather than the canned version?
I'm pretty vigilant with cleaning it out and want to keep up the habit rather than having the fun of a fire. I'm usually do 2-3 x 250g roasts per week so would get used often.
    Thanks! Michelle

I use an electric leaf blower on my home made Corretto style device. Works very well, but may be a bit vigorous for a Hottop.

I use a rechargeable leaf blower on my Hottop, I've been doing so for over 10 years.
The other advantage is the unit is cooled down ready to start another roast.

Ditto, got one of those small Mikita 18V blowers, cleans the chaff off the deck, table, chairs etc as well.
Never tried using it to cool down the Hottop in back to back roasts though, (good to know the faster cooling doesn't cause cracks in the element over the longer term).
Should speed up the cooling time in back to back roasts significantly.
        Thanks.
