    Re: Measuring temperature of corretto?

And my US cooking thermometer arrived yesterday -- cant wait till I have to roast again! The Corretto really makes home-roasting a pleasure. I was finding sitting on the verandah in midwinter stirring those beans a painful chore, especially with the occasional light fall of snow!

    Hi again Hornet,

Afraid the thermologgers were talking about just digitise the data, accumulate it in a small buffer and transmit it to a PC/Laptop via a serial or USB port, depending on the model you have. Dataloggers that are able to store useful amounts of information for later download and perusal are quite a lot more expensive. If money is no object though, then you would have plenty to choose from....

    Thanks Mal,

Can someone let me know if Data Loggers retain the information (temp) or do you need a laptop.

    Cheers,

    Shane

You might keep the glasses to keep some smoke out of your eyes.

Received my thermometer from the USA site today. Looks good. Especially like the BIG dispaly so my glasses can go away when I roast. Will be roasting this weekend and christening it.

I did go through the industrial strength photo ID and credit card rigmarolle as I ordered it before I saw the post from Anthony on how to bypass the heavy handed stuff.

Does anyone know when the DMM Temperature Data Logger will come back to Beanbay ??

Tring to find a Data Logger under $50 is becoming somewhat hard >

I just got a note from the US site saying that theyd shipped me my thermometer -- WITHOUT the heavy-handed credit checks of photo identity and photos of front and rear of credit card -- very dangerous material to send to anyone.
too right -- a photo or scan of both sides would be ideal identity theft fodder!

Didnt pursue the chefs toolbox one because it was over twice the price (taking postage into account), and because they didnt bother to put the specs (like the max temp) online (quite a few of these things stop at 200 C -- something to look out for)

And then started using my SOs DMM anyway -- hey, got to economize somewhere!

The cost in Australian dollars, including shipping , came to less than $20, which is in turn less than half the Australian price, so it was worth the attempt. Just wrote a very nice email explaining I couldnt supply the photo id as my scanner isnt working, and that Im a member of coffeesnobs -- maybe that will do the trick for some others too..

Michel, how did you get them to send you a thermometer?

I was all keen to get one of these, then saw on their website that they wouldnt ship outside the US. Same with 1st-line -- quite annoying  >

So did they change their policy, or did you have to sweet-talk them?
What about this one from Oz that Thomas found above? Its a little dearer but does away with the need to send your confidential details all over the planet..... And it appears to be the same as the U.S. one....

Ive ordered one just this morning, but explained that I couldnt supply pics of back and front of credit card along with pic of photo id -- my scanner needs repair. And Im not sure of whether its a good idea to supply photo reps of all that info over the internet, when its not needed at all by the credit card companies for payment authorisation -- esp for a $17 with postage transaction!
If they take my order without this paranoiac level of security info, then Ill be happy. If not, safer to pay a bit more locally ...
    Cheers

No issues ... just try emailing them on support@indoorhealthproducts.com . I didnt have to do anything special just send them a letter with authorisation to put it on credit card along with photocopy of both sides of credit card and photo ID. More complicated than most but seemed to work fine.

    Anthony,

Tried this afternoon and was great! Worked really well and I just had it sitting into the beans from the top. It would be much better through a hole in the side but since Im borrowing the BM that wouldnt be appreciated.

Postage will be US$7 but theyll ask for a letter from you etc etc youll find out soon. Good luck

    Mike
