Re: Roasting in a popcorn maker

The real fun of home roasting is the ability to try stuff yourself.

Give a pre-mix blend a go, you might really like it!

Sitting the green beans together for a few days prior will help get the moisture levels similar but if the beans are too disimilar (eg: Raphecs post above) then they will roast very unevenly still.

Definitely preferable to roast individually, then blend. Particularly, as raphec said, youre only doing abt 100gm at a time.

But... not impossible. As long as you use beans with similar roast profile characteristics so that they would roast together evenly. (I dont think you would pre-blend some Monsooned Malabar with Kenyan, for example.)

You would also pre-blend them at least a few days prior to roasting, letting them rest together so that their moisture contents equalise.

So, possible and can work OK, but preferable to blend after roasting separately.

I am no expert, but when trying to blend i roast the beans separately and combine after cooling. especially with the volumes achievable in a popper id reckon that would be the only way.
Yep roast beans separately and mix after cooling or several days later

    Roasting in a popcorn maker

    Hi fellow CSs,

ive been roasting in the hand-me-down-ex-mother-in-law popcorn maker
for quite some time but I have been roasting single origin beans
and they are roasting relatively evenly and to my liking.

I just wanted to know if anyone roasts different types of beans at the same
time or do they just roast single origin beans individually and then mix them once
    they are roasted.

    Anth
Working...
