  • Frothing on Gaggia Classic

    Hi all,
    Newbie here.

I just got my Gaggia Classic today, along with my Nemox Lux grinder.
Im getting decent enough shots out of it after fiddling with the grind and all that (decent enough for first day ne way), but am having great difficulty getting ne thing resembling microfoam with the plastic thing on the end of the wand. But when i take the plastic thing off, the wand is just too short to work..

Ive had a look at the bending-the-wand mod but am not too keen to go voiding the warranty on the first day of use.

I spose the question is if i stick at it, will i get the hang of it with the plastic nozzle (if so any tips would be greatly appreciated), or should i just be looking at getting a Silvia wand or bending the current wand to avoid wasted time and effort?

    Thanks for your help,

    Kieran

    Re: Frothing on Gaggia Classic

    G;day Kieran,

I have an old Gaggia Classic with the milk froth attachment that I got insanely mad at also, and I found out that you can fit a stock standard Rancilio Silvia steam wand with relative ease.

I fitted one about 18 months ago and its the best money I spent on that machine. I found that the gaggia attachment just creates lots of bubbles, rather than microfoam.

Id suggest coffeeparts (see link to the left) will have them.

    Good luck
    Cheers
    Mouldy

      Re: Frothing on Gaggia Classic

I recently upgraded from a classic.
I removed the plastic "Turbo Frother as it was called in the manual, and used a smaller milk jug. 300ml 600 ml I found to work after some practice.

Position the arm at the back of the milk jug and get the milk spinning in a clockwise direction. Ive managed to get some good milk and even some art (including my first, albeit not great dragon) off the gaggia with no mods.

      Hope it helps
