Ewww no thanks to the suds I use a 250ml jug and have no trouble getting the milk to the top from half full of milk, its smooth and silky, sometimes I can get at least 5mm (I think) or more on top, but its just never enough ;D

The current De Longhi ads on tv make the machine look completely unappealing to me with the sudsy foam on top of the coffee.
Crazy advert I thought, she holds up that cup of coffee, and all I can think is she seriously going to drink that?.

Beyond that though, you can like different levels or types of texture, I know people who like a very flat thinner texture, but I like quite a bulked but still smooth texture.

The catch is your milk wont always give you just what you want every time, I find the milk sometimes only wants to come up to a set level of bulk.

    Hi,
Thick or thin, depends what you like. My daughter had one of those mechanical milk frothers  that go with some nepresso machines. The foam was thick but with big bubbles. Not smooth and silky like I can get from my Silvia. I would definitely try before I by to make sure you like the result.
I doubt nice silky microfoam is possible from any domestic automatic milk frother (and probably any commercial machine too). The current De Longhi ads on tv make the machine look completely unappealing to me with the sudsy foam on top of the coffee.

I dont see how it would be bad to like thick foam,
actually many customers request an extra foamy cappuccino for the exact same reasons you mentioned.
Once you have made an appropriate upgrade to a machine which has no trouble texturing milk, thick creamy cappuccinos should be no problem

Ok ok I have to put my hand up, when I make a cappuccino I really really enjoy having thick foam on top which ends up on the bottom and I scoop it up last after its ended up mixing with the cocoa on top and the dregs of the coffee in the bottom  :-?

Of course the normal old Breville machine that I use for the milk for caps, doesnt do this very well.  Im hoping whatever new machine we buy will do this better BUT if it doesnt surely it wont hurt to buy something like the Capresso FrothPro???

Forgot to add, Sunbeam do the Australian version.

I think I might have to go back to my black coffees after this embarrassment  :
Working...
