        • The issue is that i'm still getting really stiff foam after steaming. Should i just cut down on the aeration phase? Thank you!

I would say yes - to much aeration will result in stiffer foam

So experiment with no aeration at first and add a little at a time on subsequent coffees till you get the right mix for your machines sweet zone

            Another trick is
You can also add a little more milk in the jug

            • Thanks KK for the original post and others for all the follow up info. So useful.

I'd like to suggest that there could be a section/heading/link somewhere for beginners articles. Eg on frothing/setting grind/extraction etc. There is so much good info on CS but you can spend days looking for the basics.

              • I have just seen a video of a micro foam steamer by La Marzocco

Is it me that has noticed that this is a very close copy of the method I developed and posted about back in 2008
They say copying is the greatest form of flattery

                          • Some great tips here. I really appreciate it as a newby!
I have an ECM Technika V PID and find that the 2-hole tip doesn't quite get the consistency of the milk I am after. Should I get the steam wand tip kit and change up to 3, or 4 holes? The manual says that when you change the temp of the steam, and therefore the pressure, it also changes the temp of the head, so not advisable to go too far?
Would more holes in the tip help to get that microfoam we all want? I know it is probably just user skills, not the machine, but I need all the help i can get!
                            TIA
