Re: Breville CAfe Roma ESP8C: FINALLY!

    Gday Tashie,
a little tip that I received from a wise person in relation to steaming milk was this:
    - dont bang the jug on the counter after steaming, as it actually speeds up the process of the milk and foam separating in the jug.
    Swirling yes, banging no 8-)

      Tashie,
You might try different milks as well. Some milk just wont micro at all, some wont micro at certain times of the year.
I get good foam from the A2 whole milk all year round.

Im working on it, but I still only seem to get fine foam on the top and milk on the bottom. I need to see someone pour latte art with milk from this machine to believe it itspossible i think. ;(

          Its possible.

Im not familiar with that machine specifically, but it resembles the specs of the sunbeam. So the prussure should be there, thats all you need.

It is difficult on a Sunbeam compared to other machines, especially to learn on but it is possible. If you can try to learn on a different machine, then go back to the Roma, that could help you too.

If I can find one here in Japan I will tape a quick demo for you.

Remember the basics, be persistent and you should be fine.

Re: Breville CAfe Roma ESP8C: FINALLY!

It will be very very hard work with that machine. I tried once on a cheap breville when I was at someone elses house and gave up.

However, you may get it right with time.

Anyway - the other guys are right about not banging, this can cause layering.
But also; dont just spin the milk in the jug (like a whirlpool) as this can cause the same effect but in the centre of the jug.

Try for a more uneven/wavey/peakey kind of swirl to keep the milk as homogenous as possible before the pour.

            Just my 2cents.

PS: Have you taken the plastic thingo off that they usually put on the wands of these things?

Hi Tashie, dunno if you live anywhere near Newcastle, but youre welcome to drop in and try out my VBM Super for comparison. Just send me a PM. And for kicks Id even get my Roma out of its box in the garage so you can compare directly. It was only bought on Mothers Day 2008 so it should be the same model as yours.
