March and I find September too, are the two worse months for milk.
I have also noticed in the last 2-3 years with the way the drought has affected the feed, it seems to be getting worse.
I use Aldis full cream and Light milk (both are Pura, in Aldi packaging) and upto the start of this week, the milk has slowly gone down hill.

Re: Did anyone experience this: sudden milk texture change?
I was having a chat to a dairy farming mate of mine and he said there had been a drop off in protien due to the heat in his farms milk and it also has a bit to do with calving times as well. A little additional reading here http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agricultur...h/milk-protein

Most cafes would get the cafe milk. Its not available in the stores. They claim is stretches year round.

I use Riverina Fresh and I saw that tobeys estate use it as well (they also recommend it through their barista training). I am a bit biased there though cause it is made locally. But I have had no change in the milk in the last 12 months.Originally posted by 3338312224223523500 link=1234484329/31#31 date=1235692527I wonder what do they use in respectable coffee places commercially..

I used to like this one, but then I experienced this problem of inconsistent microfoam with it and stopped buying it...Originally posted by 775C4E6D567C4A494B5C4A4A56390 link=1234484329/30#30 date=1235425967I get Pauls Full Cream milk delivered directly to my office and yesterday ...

Re: Did anyone experience this: sudden milk texture change?
I get Pauls Full Cream milk delivered directly to my office and yesterday I managed to get a very nice silky microfoam steaming milk with the super auto pod machine (with a separate steaming wand). Same 300ml jug so why I cant I do this at home when I can do it at work?

Good to know Im not the only one suffering/thinking theyre incompetent. The wifes A2 light milk is texturing like a charm though.

Perth milk suffering too - usually reliable Harvey Fresh just gets soapy bubbles - same with a supermarket brand, might have to try the local South West premium brand to see if any difference?!

Re: Did anyone experience this: sudden milk texture change?
Using only Farm House milk at the moment and furiously experimenting with different tips and plugging the tips with toothpick in all different configs all seem to yield the same thing... the amount of stretch I get varies and I get still get something resembling a rosetta but it is accompanied by bubbles which when left for some time will start to make its way to the surface. Havent seen a silky microfoam for a while but Im not quite ready to blame the milk yet because there is some nagging feeling that it could be my technique...

Just opened a new bottle this morning for a second brew looked more like a milkshake than nice textured milk of the one before >
Steamed another lot of milk to see if it was me as normally my Solis is great with the same consistant good results :P
Have a read of this http://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au/art...905_dairy.html seems there may be a reduction in protien caused by the heat, time for ice vest for the cows I think :
UPDATE: Went to the Supermarket and got a bottle with the latest expiry date (same brand Sungold) on it and all is now well again. 3 happy lots of MF 8-) Tried yet another with the other bottle and still milkshake country

Re: Did anyone experience this: sudden milk texture change?
we use HomeBrand from the local Woolworths and since last week i cannot make microfoam ... it just goes from cold milk to warm/hot milk with a few big bubbles on the top.
thought it was just me, until i found out a few friends of mine have the same problem with Pura milk.
from memory we had such an episode last year too, lasted about 5-6 weeks before the milk returned to normal/foamable.
