Re: Where to get a stove-top steam milk frother- and are they any good???
Hello there Belinda,
The bellman steamer is really very easy to use. It comes with instructions but I have developed my own method that works better:
1) only fill the machine around 1.5 inches deep (one fifth capacity) with hot water.
2) Clamp on lid and open coffee valve. Place on moderate/low heat until stem starts spluttering out of the tip.
3) Close the valve and let the pressure build for around 30 seconds to a minute.
4) Open the valve to bleed off any false pressure. Close agian
5) You are ready to go- there is no need for a really high heat- the unit will generate more than enough pressure to froth at least a few jugs of coffee.
As long as you have a good flow of steam- and the pressure is correct- the milk will froth well.
However frothing milk is a bit of an art and if you have not done it before it may take a while to get the hang of it. The bellman machine is much like any frother on an espresso machine in this regard- and the same rules apply. there are good videos and lots of info on the net about how to froth well. I guarantee once you have mastered the art you wont look back.

Thanks fopr that!! Will do. By the way, is the Bellman very fussy/tricky to do? I am trying to picture how it would work, and can see myself getting into a lot of trouble (and bubble.. sorry, too much shakespeare as a kid) ... dont want to fork out 100 schmackos just to end up stacking it in the cupboard.....
Would love to hear your thoughts!
Cheers,
B.

Hello Belinda
Welcome to CS
Sorrentina Coffee, a site sponsor over <----------- yonder sell them. Bellman is the brand. Others might, totally unsure. They are around a hundred bucks.
I have the Bellman coffee/steam arm version, similar to an atomic, and the milk texturing is very good.
Email Jack at Sorrentina or email all sponsors and you will get well looked after.

Where to get a stove-top steam milk frother- and are they any good???
Hi all, I have just begun my quest for home made cafe-style coffee and am loving the results!!! My machine, though, doesnt have the ability to froth milk, and I love a good cap.
Have been looking for something that might fulfil my needs..tried the crappy electric wands, tried the bodum frother (like a plunger), tried frothing with a stick blender... then found on a US website that they make stove-top steamers- you fill them with water.. they have a valve, and wand, and somehow they produce enough steam to froth your milk...
Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they any good, or am I wasting my time (and should I just stick to flat whites at home?) Also, if any good, where can I get them from???!!!!!
Cheers,
Belinda.Tags: None
