would hazard a guess that it tasted better then buying one from the countless shops i visited over the years.
Excellent work mate, and only one down-side. Youll rarely be able to enjoy a coffee out any more. ;D

I should ask, which milk are you guys using? Skim, Soy, Full or Crema milk?

        Full cream A2.
And yes, good milk does make a difference. There are a number of threads on this forum that tell of peoples travels in milk.

I will buy some A2 tommorow. That said i experimented some more and can now froth up the milk but it seems to not be thick enough below the froth (if that makes sense). There is a fair amount of froth (great for cappuccinos) but when i pour it (as does the Sunbeam DVD) it still comes out like normal milk and not thick enough to do some art. I can only play around with the froth at the end of the milk pour which sits on top of the coffee.

          Frustrating at best!

Hi Greg, its been a while since Ive used an SB, but think you should go back to Martial Monkeys advice.

Once you achieve that 10-15% increase in volume, submerge the wand deeper into the jug - either a whirlpool or milk rolling over itself (I prefer this), without creating more volume should result in integrating that froth you have on the top with the remainder of the milk. Going over 60 degrees temp doesnt help either.

            All the best!

Unlike Dennis, I have access to a SB at work so use one almost every day.

              Dennis remembers correctly.

I have no trouble doing art using the SB.

Re: Milk Frothing Problem - EM6910

One thing I have only recently discovered is just how sensitive to the right volume of milk the 6910 is.

I had been using a 600ml jug at home with the 6910 and a 500ml one at the shop with the Ikon.

I brought the 500ml home and have been using it recently for the morning lattes. Fills just under the spout for our acf108 300ml cups.

I had been having terrible trouble with the Mrss skim milk, big milkshake froth on the top, very stiff foam, big bubbles etc and was rarely getting the consistency right. When I changed jugs to the slightly smaller size, it all seems to have fallen into place. "touch wood" consistent microfoam, no milkshake effect etc, very pleased with the results.

My art isnt that spectacular, having probably done less coffees in the last 12 months than some Baristas do in a day, but at least the quality of the drink is better

Thats why I took my own jug to work rather than use the Sunbeam one thats there.

I found using skim milk doesnt seem to work as well as full cream so i am sticking to that. They were using full cream at the Sunbeam course today and the texturing was easy as pie.

this thread just made an enormous difference to my own milk results.

the whirlpool seems to be the key!

Im a complete noob to this coffee/cafe set and Im finding no problems with skim milk.

Mind you, Im yet to be critiqued by a true "expert".

                            Hey guys

Ive practised on almost 4L of milk and still havent yet perfected my milk. As with a lot of 6910 users, I cannot get the smooth silky texture like I do at work where I use a Cimballi.

I stretch (aerate) the milk for about 10-13 seconds before I tip the tip of the milk wand lower to massage the milk however even after getting the whirpool effect, the milk comes out bubbly and froth on top didnt seem to have incorporated into the milk. The froth still seemed detached from the milk thus causing it to be very runny and thin.

                            Any tips?

                              Cyv,

Does the steam wand scream the entire time, as though you had it submerged too deep? If so, you might have a weak steam pump. My first machine did, spent two weeks figuring out where I was going wrong before returning it. New machine, no problems.

                                By scream, you mean?
I know it makes all the usual sounds like srchh scrchhh-dont know how to type the sound out!

By the way the machine is brand new.
