.... The initial burst is to clear any steam which has condensed as water inside the pipe/s since the machine was last used.

It also preheats the wand so that the next blast of steam will not be subjected to a cold metal tube which will cause condensation.

You are blowing off the initial burst of water/wet steam before you put the wand close to the milk jug, arent you?

But, if it didnt have water in it, then it wouldnt be steam, it would simply be hot air.

"dry" steam means it has "less" water content, not "no" water content.

There was some debate about this earlier in the year and your milk will increase by about 10-15% in weight after steaming due to the water from the steam. Hope that helps

Just wondering how much is a normal amount of water out of the steam wand. I have been having trouble with texturing the milk lately. Could this be a cause?
