Re: Stretching large amounts of milk.
Thanks for that boys, I finally got a chance and pulled the 600mL jug out tonight... seems it was largely in my head and more to do with the angle I tilted the jug at as I had no troubles producing cappucino milk.
Sure will come in handy over xmas time when Im making a dozen lattes or whatever!

Re: Stretching large amounts of milk.
Yes Bon- if you have the newer model with cool touch wands, they should be 2 x 1.4mm. I am unsure of the spec. used on the older original models with bakelite style handles and conventional 10mm wands with the female tip....
Hope this helps...

Re: Stretching large amounts of milk.
Also....if you dont want to ramp up the pressure, there is a real sweet spot in the jug towards the back side wall on either side, with the steam wand almost parallel to the machine rather then coming out of it 90 degrees.
You can also tilt the jug to aid the folding of the milk.

Re: Stretching large amounts of milk.
Bon- check that the holes in the steam tip are 1.4mm- the machine will handle this with no problems. You can also safely have the pressurestat set to 1.0 bar.
You should be able to comftably texture a 900ml jug if you wish. I have no probs whatsoever doing that volume with mine...

Stretching large amounts of milk.
with my home setup, I have my Veneziano set at 0.8 with a two tip steam wand and I can easily do a 300mL jug.. a 500mL is alright too, but it seems a 600mL jug and upwards is too much for my steam power.
I had the chance to play around with an Elektra the other day, it was set on 1.0 and the steam wand had 4 holes... the only jugs available were huge jugs (bigger than 600mL and then bigger again) and I couldnt get any whirlpool motion happening and got pretty bad milk.
Besides the obvious of jacking the power up, are there any other solutions?
