I havent ever used thermometers just my hands but I have found that they give me a greater level of accuracy and I also have found that I am making the milk a little hot.
Ive been baristar-ing for a little over 4 months now and even in that short time Ive discovered my heat tolerance has built up. I had baby soft IT hands before.

The only potential issue i can see is that unless the stickers are transferable, it would be a relatively expensive proposition for those of us who use a number of different jugs.
I really dont see it being necessary to stick one on every jug. Unless youve got a brain injury that prevents you from sensing heat, having it on a couple of your most commonly used jugs will help train you so when its not there you know when to stop.

I would suggest that once you train yourself with one jug the knowledge is transferable, at least that is my experience. I have put it on my most commonly used jug.
Absolutely, thats the ideal scenario and would work for most of us but at the same time i can see a number of situations where more than one sticker would either be needed or simply desirable so its nice to see the boys at E61 have reacted to that and come up with such a generous offer.

Re: Anyone used the stick on thermo for milk?

Just ordered  a pair myself from E61. The standard clip on thermometer type p##s me off as I have found at times that the dial can turn on the shaft and as such change the "reading" >. This should solve that issue

Re: Anyone used the stick on thermo for milk?

I got myself 2 of these and have been playing around with them for a week or two.

Theyre very useful and Ive done away with the dial thermometer when Im steaming the milk.

The main observations Ive made in the last week:

                - Theyve been more useful to me than I first thought theyd be. Theyve unwittingly trained me to use the sound of the milk as a cue. Much more so than when I was using a dial thermometer. I think with the dial you spend more time looking at the tiny face to see when the milk is done, and less time feeling and listening. With the larger face of the stick-ons, you can take a proverbial step back and really watch and feel and listen to whats happening.

                - On both the 600ml and 400ml jugs Ive got, I noticed that the stickers are about 5 deg. lower than the actual milk temperature (as verified by dial thermometer, a digital thermometer and the CS DMM thermocouple). Not a big issue for me and I just take the milk off the heat as the 70 degree square disappears.

(Oh and no dial thermometer means one less thing to clean up afterwards ;D)
                Cheers,
                Sean.

Re: Anyone used the stick on thermo for milk?

Just to take it slightly off the E61 tags I got a set of "Temptag" stick ons today. Quite different in concept as they come as 3 sticker sheets of 4 Tags, each of the 3 sheets is for a different Temp set points for full cream, Skinny and Soy.

Only had a first go tonight with a Hot Chocolate with the Full Cream recommended Tag on and it started to colour change at 61 or 62 using my normal thermometer (checked against a digital) and by 64 degrees the Tag had fully changed colour.

More playing to do but for a touch under $20 for the pack but worth the play to lose the clip on ones and the extra cleaning.
