If its proper un doctored Sungold then it is good. I have tried most of the other local options and it steams well. As to believing Coles well good luck with that  :-/

          Maaaate,
If the milk comes from cows with a view its gotta be better, right?
My father-in-law is in Leopold. He is a milk drinker with over 80 years experience and he rings me in Brisbane to tell me this milk is just like the milk we used to get...
So, youre just gonna have to try it for yourself and then let us all know

            Re: Great Ocean Road Milk

The Great Ocean Road is very near the Heytsbury Soldier Settlement area. (World War 2 returning soldiers were settled here by ballot). This land is still used for dairying today having been opened up in the 60s using a ball and chain to completely clear the forests. (Would not be cleared today.) I remember standing and watching the 2 huge dozers pulling this ball and chain. My dad had a dairyfarm near Simpson which was the town that developed with the settlement. You can see Simpsons story by googling and it shows the memorial to the ball and chain. Yes there are still dairyfarms adjacent to the Great Ocean Road. The Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory, Murray Goulburn and Kraft to name 3 companies vied for the milk. We sent our milk to Cobden then and in late 50s early 60s to Camperdown as Pura milk feeding Melbourne folks. All of this milk pure, clean green unadulterated cows milk when it left the farms. Dairying still a big industry in the areas. The Great Ocean Road Milk. A product from the Warnambool Cheese and Butter Factory. Google that.

Oh ok - cool. I wasn't sure as it's quite inexpensive - happy to pay for quality - Schultz and Jonseys are my preferred when I can get to the market - but my Giotto is a popular girl so we go through a lot of milk.

Just bought some today and will give it a whirl.

My understanding is that we can't even get Sungold milk in the heart of the Otways......company won't deliver. Would love to try this GOR milk. Don't like our chances of being able to get it though.....

That's just weird that you can't get the local milk.
I bought a carton from Coles and tried it, nice too.

I do wonder if this was just a rebranding of Sungold for a wider market.

Andy, a simple rebrand it is. Along with Great Ocean Road cheese you will see hitting the Coles chain. An expansion of the Mil-Lel site in SA, that WCB purchased. That site will do all the cheese processing from WCB along with the Mil-Lel branded stuff. You all do realise that cracker barrel cheese is from WCB? They truck it out the back to Dairy Farmers, who own the brand rights and they cut/package it......

Today I grabbed a 2ltr bottle of Sungolds Jersey Milk - man this stuff is 3.7% protein and 4% fat - it just decadent to taste and produces magic micro foam. Think this one will become my staple...

Well I think it was clever rebranding.
Sungold logos always looked cheap and a little dated... not in a heritage sort of way just a dated one.
The GO road milk is modern, young and a bit of fun, I hope it gets a following for them.

Roughly 10 years ago I had to go drive to Deakin at WBL once every couple of months and always took a small esky with me so I could swing past the WCB factory shop on the way home. Loved the weird and wonderful range and was always surprised just how many well known brands they produced. Well worth having a look CS'rs if you are heading to Warnambool.

Sorry, I missed that post TG.
                      Answer is YES, plenty.

Just inland from the Great Ocean Road (and most of the length from Geelong to Warnambool) is some stunning dairy area. Lush green rolling hills, high rainfall and some very happy cows.
