      Re: Steaming Soy

      Interesting...

Anyone used the Vitasoy "So Milky" product??

I use this for my Wife - she loves it... and textures beautifully as well... very dense and thick microfoam - murang(meringue ) like... We used to use the So Good, then we found this product and didnt look back...

      my 2cents worth :-)

"Ïf it didnt come from breasts its never gonna be milk"

maybe soy milk comes from those soy chicken breasts.

Nah, the farmers get that by going out late at night and holding the soy beans at pitchfork point until they surrender their milk. Thats why you see it so often all curdled. The plants were so scared they gave sour milk. ;D

Actually the dairy industry has got their hooves into that one. If it doesnt have Lactose you cant call it milk. Even if it was from a cow and all of the lactose is removed its no longer milk :-?

I dont mind a bit of soy in my coffee from time to time, soy and honey makes for quite a good combo with coffee. My prefered one being the vita-soy cali-plus. Not because I want extra calcium, just it seems to taste better than the other soys. Cant say how well it textures though?

              Re: Steaming Soy

I actually quite like the odd soy latte - as long as it is Vitasoy (we actually have this on our breakfast cereal by choice anyway). I like the nutty creamy taste sometimes.

In any case I MUCH prefer soy to UHT milk. Funny how many people dont mind drinking UHT but cant do soy

For those who are wondering, my cancer is the Her2 receptive breast cancer and I am one of the first people who is fortunate enough to access the new Herceptin drug treatment on the PBS.
That was good timing. Great drug and very effective. Early trials show 50% reduction in recurrence rates. My wife had her last treatment one week before it come on the PBS. Cost us $50K but worth it.

                  Re: Steaming Soy

Vitasoy seems to be the best iv tried to, some of the little brand soy companys soy milk is a totally different shade! Sanaterium (excuse spelling seems ok to) I find some ranges from a almost white to a brown yukky colour, and some people love one brand but wont touch another. Fussy buggers!

I find for latte/fw if ya add bubbles into the milk to late, the milk cant recover like cow milk, so the microfoam isnt as silky. Some brands also actually squeal as if the wands to deep in the milk, in the same way it does if ya frothing milk with hot choc or chai!

                    FWIW
Vitasoy make a range of soys and these are also available as Fresh [from the supermarket fridge] or of the shelf [I guess like a UHT]

The fresh varieties are actually quite nice [calci-plus springs to mind] but the shelf ones are very disgusting, much worse than the difference between normal milk and UHT.

Ive never tried one with coffee....my wife drinks it.

A "wicked" breastfeeding friend of mine made her partner an instant coffee with her um "baby milk"...................he didnt even notice....two sugars + instant...how could you tell!........................but we killed ourselves laughing! ................he wasnt impressed once we told him.

                          Re: Steaming Soy

I steam up So Good regularly and its pretty cool. You have to not heat it up quite as much as cow stuff. Tastes nice and sweet - a bit nutty as Austin would say.

                          Cheers
