Gday everyone
I recently changed my Gaggia Classic steam wand (again) and made a whole new tip. It seems to work really nice and makes frothing easy. I usually inject air until the jug is pretty warm and start swirling the milk around to eliminate any bubbles. Sometimes I inject more air, sometimes less it depends on whos gonna drink the cappa. Anyway Im having some trouble with pouring latte art. Everytime I do it, the first drop of milk that hits the espresso mixes with the coffee and its harder to paint. Instead of going under the crema, it hits the bottom of the cup and swirls upward mixing the coffee. Is there any way to avoid it?
I partialy blame my machine for the trouble, because I have to wait a lot before the steam is ready, and during that time most of the crema is gone. But Ive seen some videos of Classic latte arts and I know it is doable, so do you have any suggestions?
Oh and heres how the messed up latte arts look like:

[The bubbles on the surface are there because its been a while since I poured the milk. It usually does that if I leave the cappa for a longer time. Dont know if its normal. Just to clear things up, the milk is velvet smooth while pouring and there are no bubbles in it]
Cheers,
dsc.
