I have been getting good microfoam with Woollies low fat milk (not skim) using my Gaggia Classic with Silvia wand mod. The art is another story.

I have been getting great microfoam with skim milk, a couple of days ago I thought I would give hi-lo a go with about 2% fat content, my texturing and foaming went out the door, it was totally out of control, bubbles galore and hot runny milk, so hi-lo is off the coffee milk list for now on!!
On special occasions I use a full cream single origin milk and it is heaven, but only as a special treat or when we have visitors (good excuse!).

Today i did two near perfect rosettas!

Unfortunately they were in two separate cups;(

art is in the eye of the beholder, and until I can create art as a pro I will agree with this

After all it IS whats in the cup that counts.

    Craig.

i am sure there a people who produce better art than you, but just revel in the envy of people like me, who can barely produce a dot!! ;D ;D

OK,.. well..  I finally have some photos to post here.  Only thing is, these arent my stuff-ups, these are my best efforts to date. : :-[

At least they were all free-poured! Hope you all needed the chuckle!

    Cheers,
    Mark.

You could always get a job at Crowne Plaza.

When I mentioned this morning that maybe they should send their PBTCs to a training course, to improve consistancy and also pretty up the coffee, the Asst Manager told me it was company policy NOT to do art on the coffee.

I shocked my son a couple of weeks ago with a half decent rosetta, probably a fluke, since then they have returned to abstract art until the last couple of days when just discernable rostettas are appearing on top of my brews. I have decided that it is a matter of patience and pouring lots of flat whites and lattes. I find full cream milk makes for a better pour than skim so I will continue to experiment and learn...................

    Nah...

Dont worry about it Zedd, you should see some of my extremely pathetic attempts :.... I call on my experience when as a youngster I used to imagine all sorts of depictions of clouds as they flurried by, invaluable if anyone asks :P. Im just happy enough to keep all the contents within the cup when transferring from the machine to the table these days ;D....
