Marc thats about right for my EM6910 - I posted some times a few months back for that machine and after an initial purge its steaming power when turned up is really very good in my opinion. What I noticed is the real drop off in times with larger milk volumes. Now that I have the Due, the large volumes are not that much longer than the shorter ones. So volume must be the key here - an a 4 hole tip allowing the volume of steam out.

PS. I have never agreed with some that the EM was a poor steamer, particularly for small quantities. The other night the Due was sitting cold as I was replacing the water filter and had pipes undone. Needed a coffee so arced up the the EM and whilst it was definately slower for steaming, I wasnt cooling my heals by any means or getting frustrated. So comparing that to an 11 litre boiler machine, the little (in comparrison) EM is fine for the usual 2 milk coffees - mainly flat whites/cuppacinos or 2 smaller lates in particular.

I remember the first time I tried with the La Cimbali after using the solis (which was a pretty good steamer)....
From memory texturing took a couple of seconds - after which all the milk was over me, the machine and the floor...... but not in the jug : :-[ :-[
Once mastered it has been great..... but I rarely do just enough milk for only one drink even now... there is just so much power and everything happens so quickly!
Just tried it with the original 4-hole tip. For one latte cup, 8 seconds (compared to 14 with the 2-hole). Too fast. Barely get the angle right and its time to stop.

Iv e got a Silvia and after frothing with my Saeco Via Venezia panarello it took me a while to harness Silvias dry steam power and holding the jug at right angle, finally I have achieved consistent microfoam, if Im not holding the jug just right it sounds like a jet engine on takeoff!!
Probably 15-20 seconds but I havent timed it. If I do it too long I can smell the milk starting to boil and thats not good.
