Re: Removing casing for Gaggia Evolution
Close but no cigar. Thats an empty Merlo tin in the background. I do buy Merlo beans, 200g at a time, and grind them in my Rocky doserless (just out of picture). IMHO, coffee beans are a matter of personal taste / preference and I do like my Merlo private blend so itll be hard to switch. I am willing to try other things though so maybe Ill check it out.

Re: Removing casing for Gaggia Evolution
Nice one, GingerBeer ...
Is that pre-ground Merlo I spy in the background? :-?
If so, to truly get the best out of your coffee experience you really need a decent burr grinder to grind fresh
However if pre-ground is your predicament for the moment, can I suggest that theres better quality beans available than Merlo, IMHO. I gather youre Qld based considering the tin of Merlo ... if so, have a look at Pioneer Coffee where you can shop on-line(site sponsor)

Re: Removing casing for Gaggia Evolution
Success! I did it this morning in about 10mins. I had a bit of difficulty getting the Gaggia steam wand off without removing the Evolution casing, so I took that off, swapped it over and put it back together. Now I just have to get used to using the new wand.

Removing casing for Gaggia Evolution
Ive just purchased a Silvia Steam Wand for my Evolution having read so many reviews saying it is the must-do mod.
Ive seen the how-to mod posted on here but having attempted to remove the casing from my machine have found that the steam nozzle prevents me from taking the casing off.
Does anyone know how to remove it, or whether i need to remove it to remove the original (crappy) steam wand?Tags: None
