  • Parmalat - has there been a recent taste change?

I have been using Parmalat low fat organic milk for milk based coffee for more than a year now.  Normally I have found it to be fantastic.  However lately the taste has changed and I dont know why.  There seems to be a sickly artificial unpleasant sickly sweet taste.  Has anyone else noticed this?

    Hi cNc

I dont use Parmalat myself, though I am aware that milk changes from season to season, and I believe this is mainly due to what is available in the cows diet. Now Spring has sprung, that may account for the change youre experiencing.

Why not contact Parmalat and offer them your feedback and ask the question? I think they would value consumer feedback and could offer a better explanation...then you could let all of us know!

    Cheers

        Indeed it is correct.

Between March-April and September the milk changes due to the change in cow dietary intake of different lucerine/hay. Good news, it only lasts roughly about 2-3 weeks. And this is all coming from our Mr Parmalat milk man.

Almost like putting them onto a diet. [smiley=grin.gif]

This causes the milk to become more watery...that equals less fat and less texturing...and getting those awful airy bubbles. [smiley=sad.gif]

I called Pamalat. They were not aware of any changes. However they did mention that there was a particular weed (I dont remember the name) the cows occasionally ate. Apparently that weed could have a significant impact on the taste.

            Yeah that happens too.

Some of the local farmers were growing paddocks of turnips (?) a few years back and they strip grazed them. The cows eat the leafy tops.
The milk factory got a heap of complaints about weird tasting milk ;D

Didnt Starschmucks buy the rights to the red clover just prior to going bust ... or was it the yellow model, cant recall. :-?

Thatd explain their disdainful coffee then.
