Re: 1L Milk Jug
I have to agree I use both motta and the cheaper ones from coffee parts and you do get used to the thickness. The weight is probably not perfect for latte art but with practice you can still get some pretty good results.

Re: 1L Milk Jug
Iv just been playing with one of these motta jugs and I couldnt agree more, the walls are way too thick to properly judge milk temp. and the spout is a little to rounded for my liking to.
As for the 1lt jug.... I think I spotted one at Chefs Hat once, maybe they still have them. what about another 600ml jug?

Re: 1L Milk Jug
I have used a lot of jugs out there as a barista.
Nothing I have used can beat Incasa for latte art. Theyre dirt cheap and have the perfect spout for latte art.
I do not like motta jugs. The thicker stainless is a really bad design flaw in my opinion. It removes the baristas ability to judge milk temperature. Theyre also really bottom heavy which makes latte art a whole heap harder.
A 600 mL jug is enough to produce 2 cappuccinos, 2 flat whites, 2 lattes or any combination of these drinks.

Re: 1L Milk Jug
I dont have a 1 lt jug
However I have 4 other jugs of different sizes
1 x 200 ml
1 x 300 ml
1 x 600 ml
1 x 750 ml
They do the job
Does that make me a jug snob?

Haha I also hate the big jugs.... Even when its busy i still prefer to use the small jugs
Though my boss does sometimes get angry at me for not using the big jug

I dont like the 1 litre jugs either scoota, but when you get 180 people come through the door all at once wanting a coffee, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Re: 1L Milk Jug
I dont even use a 1 litre jug at work. Hate the damn thing...I think we use it to keep the tongs in these days down at the sandwich bar...
I only use a 600ml and an even smaller 300ml jug. My best art comes out of the 300ml jug. Its light, well balanced in my small hands and has a nice spout.
I wont cite the bigger jug being heavier and too tiring for me. Mainly because I reckon I could beat you at one arm wrestling any day...and thats because Im the one who bench presses (literally!) 15 kgs every minute or so for about 6 hours a day...;D

Re: 1L Milk Jug
Thanks. I just purchased a 750ml Motta from Coffeeparts. A bit pricey and over my budget once tax and shipping added on but looking forward to it
I think it will almost replace the 600ml and the 1L I have now, as most mornings the 600 is a bit too small and the 1L is a bit too big.

Re: 1L Milk Jug
I bought a couple of the JB-011 1 litre jugs from coffee parts recently though not with the intention of latte art, but volume. I dont think larger jugs are intended for latte art, but these are comfortable and art is possible. They fall well within your budget.
The motta jugs are better quality, heavier, thicker, higher grade stainless, and have a deeper spout which would help with the art. These features are reflected in the price - a bit more than your budget.

1L Milk Jug
Im in the market for a new 1L milk jug that is good for latte art. The one I have now is cheap/thin and has a shallow spout. Can anyone recommend a good one? I have done a couple of searches and was considering the Incasa but noticed there are also quite a few different options on the Coffeeparts website. Price isnt so much of a factor as were not talking big dollars when it comes to a jug. Well...actually let me rephrase that.... up to around $60 is OK. Any suggestions? I already have a 600ml jug but the 1L comes in handy.Tags: None
