Re: Isomac Millenium Propfessional
Do you know, Robyn, that you can roast your own coffee beans in a popcorn popper, its that easy, on average people pay around the $20 a kg mark, and more, for roasted beans in the supermarket and they are quite stale to say the least. The rule of thumb I use is that green beans kept well can last 3 years, once roasted, kept well, can last 3 weeks, once ground will only last 3 minutes at the most, hence the reason why a vast number of coffeesnobs and others now roast their own.
The average price for green beans is approximately 40% cheaper than the stale supermarket roasted beans and once you have experienced the difference of a real fresh espresso there is no going back.
Of course there is one catch you must be aware of, the quest for the ellusive perfect shot of coffee, we refer to it as "espresso nirvana" it will eventually lead you into a phenonenom we also refer to as "upgradeitis", but rest assured you are not alone, we fully understand and have experienced this, it is not a dilema but a quest, it will lead into a whole new dimention light years beyond the average coffee shop.....
Do not fear grasshopper we are here to help...... ha ha ha ha ha
Its as addictive as coffee itself........ Ray

Re: Isomac Millenium Propfessional
Thanks for all your help - I made the best coffee tonight - my husband was so impressed.
I could not have done it without your help.
I must admit it is a fantastic machine and of course you need to use good coffee which I purchase from Di Bella in Brisbane.
I can not believe what a great site this is, and how fast you got back to me with a solution to my problem.
A couple things I was doing wrong: stretching the milk too long and the other I had the nozzle way to deep in the milk.
Thanks again!!!
Cheers
Robyn

Re: Isomac Millenium Propfessional
You may also want to purge the steam spout first to let any water out before you put it in your milk as well as keep a finger under the jug feeling the temperature of it, once it is too hot to touch kill the steam and then remove the jug from the steam wand... and yes you are totally right, the isomac is a fantastic machine well and trully capable of making great coffee...

Re: Isomac Millenium Propfessional
Full from start to finish and then turn offDo I keep the wand on full pressure or turn it back
As the foam rises the milk level drops so move the jug up slowly keeping the steam tip just under the liquid part of the milkSo am I lifting the jug down or up
You will also notice the sound of frothing change to more muffled that’s your que to finishI have been doing it for too long - I will try again - thanks heaps!!!! Robyn

Do I keep the wand on full pressure or turn it back - you are right it does not take long at all. I should invest in a timer it might help me. So am I lifting the jug down or up - you are right the foam is to thick - I have been doing it for too long - I will try again - thanks heaps!!!! Robyn ;D :-*

Re: Isomac Millenium Propfessional
Hi Robyn
Try a 300 ml jug at first - enough for one cup
The Isomac has ample steam
Place steam wand in centre of milk/jug at about 80 deg
Turn steam knob on full
Only give the milk about 1 second of air at the beginning keeping the tip just under the surface for the remainder by lifting the jug as you go
Most people stretch the milk for to long and get stiff foam
You should stop when milk has almost doubled in height
This takes about 5 to 10 seconds
Go back and read my method you used the other day on post #1

Isomac Millenium Propfessional
I am having trouble stretching milk on the Isomac Millenium - 2hole wand - I have two jugs not sure of size one does 2 cappuccinos and the other t does 4 cappuccinos - I have wasted so much milk and I only succeed very rarely mostly there are too many bubbles, but i can not seem to stop this happening, I know the bubbles come from getting too much air in, so could someone give me some help, it is a great machine.......
