My sons friend who is very close and is a girl, but not a girlfriend :-? :
Has a 2005 Hundai Accent and the breaks pads need to be changed... Now she is very sweet and has been supporting my some through some UPs and Downs...
Being one with lots of experience with cars in general - life time of NO $$ so do it your self - I offered to change teh front break pads for her.
We head off and get some pads... No problem...
I go to undo the wheel nuts and the R/H side all appear to be very tight OR cross threaded
On asking, she advised that a well know Tyre Service center replaced the two front tyres about 8 months ago...
Mwahaaaaaa Bloody UN CALIBRATED Air socket drivers.... Must be over tightened..
So I persisted for a bit ---- SNAP Bolt ONE down and nut and part of shaft in hand... This is not good... :-[
Tried the other 3 (4 to a wheel) and they were all much the same... two did start to move but then tightened up ...
We head of to three shops that do car parts but nothing in stock for any Hundai.... That blows that... I can not even bust the rest and replace... So, we chat and as she has a receipt... She plans to return to the place of fitting...
Move to the L/H tyre... Bugger me :
>
two of the 4 are in the same state....
Had she had had a flat at some stage she would have been in a right pickle.... Tow would have been the only option....
She is heading to the place in the morning and I have told her to be firm but pleasant and explain that break pad replacement had been planned (Uncle in Brisbane 4 the weekend) but could not happen due to the wheel studs being stripped etc... We are hoping they will do the studs at no cost (as they should) and that if she can .... She is going to see if they will fit the pads as an offer of good will.... At no cost....
They will have to drop the calipers to do teh studs and as she has the pads... It is only a few extra mins to fit... I reminded her that she should not get angry... But be pleasant, remind them that she is a full time student and that it was their work that has now put her in this position and that she does not have the $$$ to get teh pads changed...
If they refuse... I will do... However it should have been done this weekend and she is now driving on 3 studs instead of 4 and no way to change a tyre, if she gets a flat in either of the front tyres...
1: I wonder how many other people are driving on tyres that they can not change due to lack of skills or poor equipment setup...
2: Are we in the wrong for trying to get teh pads (she has purchased) replaced at no charge ?
... Will keep you updated .....
No where is that double shot
