True, however when you are claiming that you are sick - and this is being utterly refuted by the team boss, you know something is up. And trust me, the rumours going around the tents for years has been exactly what was mentioned above.

On another note - Contador is more than a man!

          What does that mean?
Does he have "tria arhidia"? :-? (Big Fat Greek Wedding reference)

Haha this is quite funny. Well, I said that he was more than a man this morning due to his quite impressive performance in the time trial last night. Then I jump on the news this morning and Contador is being challenged by LeMond (former French TDF winner) about doping. On his way to winning the stage in the Pyrenees, researchers are suggesting that he would have required a V02 max (oxygen consumption) of 99.5 ml/mn/kg, which has never been achieved before!

So he is actually more than a man - whether it be by sheer athleticism, or perhaps by the aid of a few pills

Why dont they drug test the top 4 every day?
All they have to do is wee into a jar

It would save all the innuendo that surrounds the sport. :-?

              Just my 2c worth!

How is that fair???????? Youre a sportsman - you should understand that it doesnt matter if youre coming 1000th and you dope - youre still a cheat. Why the top 4?

I believe random urine samples are taken on every stage

                  I could not agree more.

In my sport, the top 4 get tested plus a few random tests as well.

Ive had the doping control officials come to where I work to give me out of competition tests. :-?

Also, Im in WADAs database, where I have to let them know where I am every day, morning, afternoon and evening. Whats more I need to give them up to 3 months notice to where Ill be!!

So like you, I hope there is random testing during the TDF.

I raced a little more than one season as an amateur. At the beginning of teh second season there was one guy who returned about 10 Kgs heavier in muscle. We all knew.

My vote would be a lifetime ban for the first offense.

Is caffeine still on the list, Warren? Remember Alex Watson in Seoul?

"At the 1988 Games in Seoul, Australian Alex Watson failed a urine test which showed he had excessive levels of caffeine in his system.

Watson was tested during the fencing competition and told the IOC medical commission hearing into the affair that he had drunk 12-15 cups of coffee and two or three cans of Coca-Cola at the venue over the 12 hours of competition.

This did not satisfy the commission, which disqualified him."

I know its serious business, but, if it happened to you, you could just point to the VBM, Mazzer, Aeropress, plunger, Kyocera, Hottop and all your other "bits and pieces" and theyd have to let you off. ;D

Testing is a joke and is done because its the right thing to be seen to be doing. After the LA games it was reported that over 75% of all athletes had used some form of banned substance in their build up to the games. If this is only 50% accurate then there are alot of very tarnished medals and records out there IMO. I have been tested and competed with many world champions and beleive me I know the majority sailed through the testing looking like Mother Teresa while blatantly laughing in the face of the testing agency. There will always be far more money spent on getting through the testing than actually catching cheats and that is a fact

I believe that recently the manufacturers of the original drug substances have been adding identifiable markers that show up in testing

So if the drug is not detectable due to not knowing what to look for the identifiable markers are, & each specific drug group has its own unique identifiable marker

Warren (Top Shot) may be able to confirm this development

I remember him, caffeine is still tested for. But so long as you are not above a certain concentration, you will not test positive.
I dont drink coffee before a competition anyway.

There was a lot of cover up of doping results during the LA games >

I log on when there is a change to what I thought I would be doing or where Im going to be. I fill an electronic form for every quarter.

All "athletes" ranked in the top ten for their sport are in the same testing pool internationaly for all sports who comply.

So, if I get a cold for example, I just cant go to the chemist to get something for it. I have to check to make sure it does not conatain any illegal (banned) substances!!

                                Life can be fun!!!
