Re: Today my mum drank instant coffee...
My wifes mum only drinks International Roast, and thats got to be the worst. She goes through different phases to pep it up, sometimes shes using powdered milk, sometimes sweetened condensed milk - she loves it. ive now gotten to the point that I love going there and having whatever shell dish up, and I go back for more, i have heaps whenever Im there. I just think of it as a coffee drink thats packed with caffeine. Its got tonnes of the stuff in it - I get all jittery and annoy my wife all the way home.

Re: Today my mum drank instant coffee...
I dont look down my nose at those who prefer instant, however i dont allow that terrible stuff inside my house.
I have enough of an issue with my missus putting vanilla syrup in the lattes i make for her (although to be fair, she has to use soy milk so it probably needs some flavour to mask the terrible soyness). ;D

Re: Today my mum drank instant coffee...
Id have to agree wambesi, to each their own when it comes to flavoured coffees and syrups/powders. Some of the flavoured beans are good, but my tastes have swung towards enjoying the bean and not what is added to it. But every now & then some syrup or cocoa powder mixed through is just as enjoyable in its own way as a SO bean is.Originally posted by 76606C63647268010 link=1262953063/16#16 date=1263549717As much as a "coffeesnob" that I am now I dont agree with that.
I wouldnt use their beans again (did before I knew better) but I think coffee can be enjoyed many ways. I love both a plain cap as well as a nice mocha.
My coffee cupboard has a big selection of cocoas and syrups, too much added can be sickly but just enough can be quite nice.
But...instant when there is espresso ready to go...*sob*

My mother is the same, she prefers her instant as real coffee makes her feel ill whereas Dad loves one of my caps.

Its funny I can live with people drinking instant. I never will but what I hate most is gloria jeans flavored beans!!!!! Ive never really tried a coffee from them but the smell is enough. Coffee is coffee. People that add syrups and flavors to it are spoiling it.

Its like saying any beers other than the mainstream beers such as VB and Carlton arnt beers at all. There are many different flavours and combinations of ingredients to make different types, everyone has different tastes, not saying youre wrong but I just dont agree.

Perhaps our in-laws are related? Mine recently did exactly the same thing. Crap coffee goes down the sink, IMHO.

Good point, will stick to singles for now.Originally posted by 526D6B6C7176475A7761747D180 link=1262953063/13#13 date=1263447615Are you guys getting complaints from single shots of coffee.
My sister loudly proclaimed today she cant tell the difference between instant and COFFEE coffee. I tried to shush her up but she kept saying it. In public. Thank goodness we were at some crappy cafe that made awful coffee anyway.
I shall count myself lucky I am not afflicted with this genetic disorder which it appears both my mum, uncle and my sister share. PHEW>

Tashie, thats parents for you.
Had my folks over from the UK in october just after I got Miss Lucy. I was pouring 200ml gushers down the sink and my dad was complaining that I was wasting it! He drank it. Finally got a decent shot in their last few days of their stay and he said it was "too strong" but okay as a long black, then asked for a nescafe!
They bought Nescafe Gold and kept asking me if I wanted one!!!!
At least the neighbours drink my coffee and love it (especially after the training with Tim Adams).

ROFLMAO...Originally posted by 5C697E7C4C7469767A777F1B0 link=1262953063/10#10 date=1263288547OK Tashie, just calm down.
Easy now, breathe slowly and get the brain engaged after that dreadful stress.
I understand that it is now possible to children to divorce their parents on grounds of "irreconcilable differences". Good luck in the court system.

Tell her, that the only way to drink Instant is when you can do it like this..
Note: It was safer in the room, than being in the rest of the building or out in the public areas... Besides... As I am often fond of saying...
1: Ya can not catch any thing, if you already have it...
2: Any day above ground; is a great day.

Have you tried making a "weak" coffee for her or is it a pre conceived idea she has based on experiences with poorly made cafe coffee?Originally posted by 7065776C6D61040 link=1262953063/0#0 date=1262953063She didnt want a coffee from my gorgeous Silvia/Rocky because she doesnt like strong coffee

Re: Today my mum drank instant coffee...
And here there are CSers who are dying to have that sort of equipment... Pre-ground is one step above instant, but still a way to go... Poor 480 not getting usedOriginally posted by 5352584B55504A390 link=1262953063/5#5 date=1263205253I used up all my frequent flyer points to get my brother and his wife a EM0480 grinder for their house warming. 2 months later its still sitting unopened while they continue to buy supermarket pre-ground. I also lent them my EM6910 which was just collecting dust in the shed. My bro returned it a week later saying it was too hard to use and theyre back to their 4800 which I bought them for their wedding 9 years ago.
