  • G'day

Hello! Have been referring to this site for months in investigating a new coffee set-up. Just got my Silvia/Rocky set-up last week and doing battles to get a good shot and work-out a good technique. These forums have been invaluable!

Hi, I wondered where the correct place was to introduce myself, I guess I have found it.
i too have been lurking for quite awhile gathering as much info as I could to make a decision on what equipment to buy.
Anyway finished up with a Quick Mill QM67 and a Compak K3 push from one of the site sponsors, and very happy with the purchase.

      • Welcome guys...

Look forward to reading all about your coffee journey as time goes along. Looks like you're both already very snobby coffee drinkers so definitely in the right company here. Have fun...

        Mal.

        • HI Folks,

I live in Adelaide and enjoy nice coffee...

I enjoy the experience of going out to nice cafes and coffee drinking places...I love espresso and espresso based coffee drinks and dislike ordinary black tea...

I've taken to enjoying coffee with friends at coffee places once or even several times a week

I've done a barristers course about ten years ago but have decided not to be a barrister as a way of earning income...

I've had tinka toys at home for the good part of about 15 years... Starting off with the old Saeco Magic Deluxe....You see I enjoy texturing the milk... I have changed to the fully automatic DeLongi, and had a heap of trouble with that...So much so that Delongi changed it to a Prima Donna Magnifica S and had a heap of trouble with that...It literally has been in for repair longer than I have had the machine at home...Anyway enough moaning...I'm looking for a good quality machine so we can have nice coffees at home and entertain with it as well around the $2,00.00 mark ...Looking at using between .25 kilo and .5 kilo of coffee per week...What section should I post this in?...

BOT I love coffee, have been around to different countries in the world and tasted coffee there...I feel we have it right here....Always looking for different nice coffee places to enjoy coffee...

I look forward to being a part of this good coffee community.

          Cheers.

            • Hi All'
It has taken me some time to post. But I have enjoyed reading like minded peoples posts over the last couple of years and it is about time that I started interacting with my fellow obsessives.

              • Hi all, long time lurker first time poster yadayadayada!

recently bought back into my espresso obsession after a year in Nespresso wilderness! Bought new V3 Silvia and smart grinder in January, threw myself into it and was just getting OK shots when I had to put it on a truck for a shift to Darwin.
it took four weeks to get here, all of which was spent on CS agonising for it to arrive. Needless to say by the time it did I had bought a thermocouple and temp gauge for a Gronk mod, naked PF and precision baskets x 2 (and a free coffee sample from Talk_Coffee - thank you Chris for putting up with me playing silly buggers re NT postage - super happy with my gear thank you!) and first shot out when it got off the truck was bloody unbelievable in comparison...

+1. Hello all. Fortunately or unfortunately, it's heartening to know there are others like me who enjoy reading the different posts yet hadn't post anything themselves. Mainly because queries or comments are already posted by others. But I figured it's best to still make an effort My other half and I bought a Breville Infuser a month back and are really enjoying the coffees with our Baratza Preciso which was a huge and welcomed replacement from our Bar Aroma grinder which we learned how to mod from here (http://coffeesnobs.com.au/grinders/2...t-grinder.html ). Looking forward to getting more out of it before we look to upgrade.

                  Have a great long weekend,
                  Alfista

                            • Good Afternoon.

                              • In my youth I had a Sunbeam Cafe Crema and used pre-ground. But I didn't know what Crema was and roadhouse foam was my forte.
                              • In my late uni days I had a Breville Cafe Roma and still used pre-ground... this was when I wondered why my coffee didn't taste like the ones from a shop
                              • I was gifted a Breville 800ES and a BarAroma and true appreciation began... unfortunatley the 800ES didn't last past the warranty
                              • I bought an Sunbeam EM6910 and we're having great times....but I had to modify the BarAroma to try and get the grind fine enough... didn't quite get there.
                              • After 2 years of double floor baskets I just bought a BCG800 and have poured my first single floor basket shot...just - it was on the finest setting but was still amazing.
                              • The shim kit is on its way.

                              See you around!
