  • Hi all,
After persisting with an anonymous coffee machine I got from the flea markets for $10, I just bought myself a Rancilio Silvia and am on the lookout for a grinder now. I'm learning so much from the forum already!

    Cheers
    Joe

    • I joined today but have likewise been reading for a while. Coffee sure is addictive! I used a cheap machine for ages and thought I was getting good coffee but now I know what it is really like!

      • Hi All,
I have been a member for a couple of years and have used the forums extensively - appreciate the tips and advice that is readily available.
        Thanks

        • Long time listener first time caller, so to speak.

My name is Matt, I am a coffee machine technician, joined this site a while ago - only just started posting. My original intention was to build up some rapport and sell a coffee machine in the hardware sales forum, but I'm kind of hooked now. I hail from Western Australia.

          • Hi everyone I am new here. My name is Chris and I have a Sunbeam 9610 and matching Burr grinder. I need some advice but I will start a new thread in the appropriate section.

            Thanks
            Chris

            • Hi guys, a big welcome from me as it takes all types and I love it that I am not the only weird guy here.

Hint: Just act normal and we may miss the weird bits.

              Welcome

              • RC and others,

                Welcome all.

It is not normal to be a CoffeeSnob. Normal people drink INSTANT.

In the old days I was normal but not now.

                • Hello!

I've found this forum to be a valuable resource for coffee knowledge as a reader, and now I wish to tap into it more as I upgrade from a Sunbeam EM3600 and EM0480 to something better.

I hope to one day be able to contribute back to this community.

                    • Hey Lindsay...a lot of us started out with a Sunbeam and moved on to something bigger or better and have been great contributors ever since! (I include myself in that and I've been around for 8 years here, this is the only forum I've been on for that long, so just goes to show how deep the coffee passion runs.)

                      • Hey Snobbies!

I've been a long time trawler of CS but never got around to joining. Love this place and hopefully I can contribute positively to this awesome community. A little about me - I'm a wife to a coffee fanatic and we have two little ones (3 and 2). We are looking to invest in a mobile coffee caravan/pop-up cafe to take with us on an Australian holiday for a couple of years. Hoping to make some great friends in here and learn as much as possible about mobile coffee vending. Cheers!

                          • Hey All. Greetings from Montreal. I'm new to these forums but have been making coffee for years. My first machine was some kind of 90s saeco combi unit in grey plastic that probably cost someone a pretty penny but I found for free at the dump. A few loads of vinegar (which I know now is useless - hey it was before you could ask the internet everything) and I was on a role for years. It crapped out while I was at University and I've been kicking myself ever since for letting it go.
There were also a few years where I worked at cafes, restaurants and bars and got pretty good at frothing milk and pulling shots. Never knew anything about applying 30 lbs but the customers seemed happy.
I picked up a gaggia mdf grinder at the thrift store a while back and it seems to deliver a pretty consistent grind so I feel I have that end covered for now. So I'm just missing the machine!
Half of me would probably be happy with that old saeco, but the other half wants some monster that I can churn out 10 caps at a party.
Is it crazy to go for something like this pictured below. I'm sure my wife will think so!
Anyway, I'll end this post before I get too far off topic. Look forward to learning more about becoming a coffee snob!

                            • Welcome "Narpod"...

I have a very similar machine to the one pictured and what's more, my wife helped me acquire it... And she doesn't even like espresso based coffee.

What ever you end up with mate, it's a great journey, once started. Have fun...

                              Mal.
