Good morning guys and girls .
Just wanted to say hello . I gave been reading posts on and off for a long while through random googling. Just signed up last night , still very green to the fine art of coffee brewing , but an experienced coffee drinker ;-) . Is there a good forum for common discussion and talk about brewing equipment , or somewhere a lot of new posters go to?
Regards
Paul

Looking at my profile I'm embarrassed to see I've been a member for five years and have only just started posting. I love my coffee but I don't have the forensic knowledge that so many of the members here show. I have to confess when I couldn't tell you what equipment my favourite cafes use, I just like what they deliver.

Hi everyone. I've just registered and have just bought my first machine. I picked up an automatic because I'm pretty time poor but I understand the limitations these have (after reading these forums!). I figured the worst I produce at home will probably be better than what I can get at any cafe where I live (Charters Towers in Queensland).
The machine I bought is a Delonghi ecam23450s. I'm on holidays about 2400km from home at the moment (found the auto for a great price), so I'm lugging it around with me and haven't had a chance to give it a go yet! Very frustrating! They chucked in two bags of Vittoria Oro with the deal however I ordered a pack of Espresso Wow this morning to put through when I get home.
I suppose the biggest things I need to get my head around are how each bean variety differs in taste and how to order the "right" coffee at a cafe to match my preferred taste (does that sound dumb?!)
Anyway, I'm looking forward learning more about coffee, how to get the best out of what I have, to developing my palate and learning what I can from all of you.
Cheers!

Your English is just fine "lokura"....
(And way better than any pretence of mine to speak/write anything resembling Spanish)
And, a belated welcome to CoffeeSnobs too...
Sounds like you're well and truly set up to try some amazing roasting. Don't forget to keep us up to date on how your roasts are going.
Most importantly, have a heap of fun doing it...
Mal.

Hi All,
I've just joined recently after the frustration of buying fresh roasted beans here in Darwin sent me clicking on an article at the Art of Manliness blog.
That seemed pretty easy so did a bit more googling and found CS.
I use a french press with freshly ground bought beans from a local supplier who is only open on weekends.
Interested mainly in the roasting side of stuff at the moment.

New member introduction
Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been a lurker on the CS forums for some time now and thought it rather voyeuristic and rude not to say hi.
I've been roasting for years now and was getting rather proficient with a heat gun, saucepan and thermometer modified wooden spoon. I've recently migrated to more sophisticated methods through the purchase of a Huky 500. I'm absolutely loving it and as a result my friends, colleagues and family are drinking more coffee than we probably should.
Anyway just wanted to say what a great place this is to find information and how easy it makes it to be able to buy from beanbay and then head over to the forum for tips.

Greetings everyone.
A knee operation (only minor) earlier in the week has laid me low and given me the time to finally introduce myself.
I suppose my serious involvement with coffee started back in 1993 when I fell for the temptation of buying a La Pavoni brass Europiccola.
For years I persevered but produced very little in the way of drinkable coffee.
After about 15 years I think I finally got the hang of it, and after discovering this forum , I reckon I now know enough about the machine and what grind to use to pull a reasonable shot.
and in the meantime, after reading about it on here, I bought a popper. I bought some beans from Andy, ( I think it was the last time he delivered personally to Melbourne. It was a strange experience, standing around on an industrial estate early one morning, "Waiting for my man, with twenty six dollars in my hand" along with an assortment of other dodgy characters"
So along with many others on here, I graduated to a coretto and have become an obsessive nerd ( or is that a geek?)
And in the meantime, I've absorbed a huge amount of information from many of you on here, and would like to say thanks to everyone.
I've also enjoyed the bickering and the humour that goes on as well.
Cheers!

G'day My name is Tristan
I have been lurking the coffee snobs forums for the past couple of months in preperation for moving (back) to central Queensland, I have always enjoyed good coffee and reveled in its availability, but now that my partner and I are moving we have decided to take the plunge into roasting our own coffee.
I am a chemical engineer by trade so the interest in coffee roasting is twofold, one is to satisfy my scientific curiosity and need to tweak everything and note everything. secondly is the artistic side, to make something for myself and others to enjoy.
I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with y'all

Hi Trizshjen, I'm new here myself and new to making espresso etc at home. Where in Central Qld are you moving to? I'm in Charters Towers - not quite Central Qld, but my wife and I pass through Emerald etc each time we go to Bundy to see family. Good luck with the roasting!!
