I am brand new to CS. I have been drinking coffee for longer than I would like to say. I have recently become interested in attempting to make at home what I have sampled in some of the better coffee shops of Australia. I am living in Cairns and have access to some premium coffee.

I will be buying a machine in the near future and have with interest read most of the posts on the different machines. I look forward to becoming as obsessive on coffee and many here. (LOL)

Thanks for the kind words.  I hope your Christmas was as good as ours.  

Yes the wait was long and agonizing but well worth it.  With the goodies all set up on the kitchen bench there is no looking back - even though its going to take a while to master.  

I am definitely going to get a new tamper though, the plastic one that comes with the Silvia is just nasty.

Anyway I think its time for a coffee! ;D

Just wanted to pop and say hello as well. Ive got myself an EM6910 and after doing the Sunbeam coffee course I went right out and got an EM480 and a milk thermometer quick smart.

Still very much a newb but really enjoying seeking out the perfect shot and texturing the milk. I got some pricey beans to start with and quickly realised that it wasnt a good idea so burning through cheaper beans until Im happier with m technique and then Ill move back to the pricey types.

Im looking forward to the time i can tweak the machine settings and taste/see/feel a difference. Ill know Im a proper snob then

I must go off and sort my sig/avatar...

Hiya,

Well, Im kinda new too... Ive been looking for a while, but decided to join in a few weeks back!

My coffee existence would be perfect if:

1 - I could find a ring tone for my phone that sounds like my La Cimbali Junior S
2 - I could source a medium range coffee machine and grinder to replace my La Cimbali stuff when I sell it...

Live in ACT, and despair daily over the poor quality of coffee in Canberra....
