    Welcome "hipsy" and "binary"....... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Great to have you as fellow CoffeeSnobs ;D.

By the way "binary", you dont need to buy everything all at once..... First things first is the best grinder you can afford, waaayyy more important than the machine in the equation of realising excellent coffee. A decent grinder combined with quality, freshly roasted coffee and only ground immediately before brewing will allow your Stove-top the ability to produce some truly superb brews. Great coffee is all about the beans, freshness and only grinding what you need for immediate use.

If you would like to know how to get the best out of your stove-top, there are a couple of excellent threads about this subject if you do a bit of a search of the forum to turn them up.

Have fun guys and look forward to many more posts from you.....

    Cheers,
    Mal.

      Thanks KK and Mal.
Ive been watching the hardware trading section for a while and there is a lot of good stuff being traded. I think Ill take your advice and buy seperately to avoid one big financial hit (and hit from the wife!). Ive read some tips for the stove top so should be able to keep satisfied in the short term with just a grinder.
      Cheers, Liam.

Hi all, Ive been into my coffee for a while now, generally just long blacks made from my single-cup plunger using pre-ground coffee. Mates think I made it well using it but I knew it wasnt anything that special.

Fast forward to a year or two later and Im still here at uni, my last year. Thought that combined with my bday was excuse enough to splash out on a machine, so I ended up with a Sunbeam EM4800C. I still use preground coffee, but plan to change this when circumstance [ie finance] allows. Meanwhile, Ive joined the board to get some hints and tips for making good coffee.

        Cheers all - boingk

            Hi folks,

I have been lurking for a while and finally made the move to come say hello. I have had a love affair with coffee for many years and expect to have for many more. I am now in the market for a grinder and espresso machine setup so expect a few questions to come!

            Cheers,

            Andrew.

              Hi everyone.

I actually found CS after buying my first espresso machine recently.   Its a terrific source of information and a very friendly place to be.  CS has certainly made starting up a lot easier.

              Looking forward to good coffee.

I bought the Sunbeam 6910. Had a few teething problems (one of which was needing a shim for the em0480 grinder) but pretty much sorted now. Sunbeam are certainly good people to deal with.

Im getting very close to buying my ms silvia, but now thinking I might as well get the rocky combo. Considering Im still extremely new Ill keep posting in this thread for now...
Can anyone tell me which of the site sponsors would be closest to northern suburbs of melbourne that will be able to help out with equipment and then ongoing with fresh roasted beans?

                            Hello Everyone..

Been Lurking for quite some time finally registered and decided I should really introduce myself.

                            Im Scott 25 from Perth.

I have always loved coffee and with working shift I am finding it increasingly hard to get out to my favourite coffee shops and enjoy one, So I decided it was high time to get my own machine and learn how to make it myself.

I tried to go it alone with some reading and helpful words from others.. I dont make a bad coffee that being said I dont make a great one either.. So I have booked myself on a Introductory Barista course at the WA Barista Academy so hopefully that will help. Also got a Coffee appreciation course with the Machine I purchased but I will see if I think its worth doing after I have done the other one.

Without going into my life story I will tell you my Equipment so far

                            Sunbeam EM6910
                            Pullman Naked PF
                            Sunbeam EM0480
                            Grindenstein Knock Box (Red)
                            Generic Peculator

                            Upgrade Plans and further equipment.

                            Mazzer Super Jolly
                            Espro and Pullman Tampers

                            Yeah.. So there you go.

Hi everyone, just joined up. Im sure Ill figure out how this works after a few posts, so guess Ill get started. Like pretty much everyone here, I would die without coffee. Im lucky enough to work in the Perth CBD and I think the best places to get your fix are Epic, Zekka and Tiger Tiger. Lately, I havent been able to stay away from Zekka!

I used to make coffee at home, but as much as I loved it, I never managed to get to work on time, so now I leave it to the pros. Though I would love to get my hands dirty again, but maybe just on weekends, so if there is a consesus out there as to which machines are the best, I would love your advice

So see you guys around the forums. Cheers, Eisha.

Dont know much about the cafe scene in Perth but you should give Epic a try
