    Hi all,

Thought I should register and say hi as Ive been trawling the site reading all the great posts.  I stumbled across these forums while looking for information on what sort of coffee machine I should upgrade to next.... and Ive sure learnt alot!

I dont work in the coffee industry ... I just like a great coffee.

Im currently using a Francis!Francis! X3 which I picked up cheap online... I dont know if its that good of a machine but Ive been able to get fairly decent coffee out it.  Ive also been looking for a grinder as Im currently using *cough* pre-ground coffee *cough*.

Anyway, cheers and see you on the forums.

    Ben.

      Welcome Ben C
You will always find hot discussions on grinders
The main thing is get a good one even if you stretch your budget

Now the quicker you start grinding your own coffee the sooner you will realize what you have been missing

                  Welcome Amy and Pav.... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Good advice from KK and I would also encourage you to post in threads of interest or start new ones. Youre never too young to start either Amy, I was about 5 or 6 years old when I had my first taste of REAL coffee. Looking forward to reading your questions and thoughts in upcoming posts.... 8-)

                  Cheers,

                    Hi CSers,

I recently discovered CoffeeSnobs after buying a Gaggia Baby Twin for my partners birthday a few months ago. Several problems, an unhappy missus, much reading of CS, and two machines later, I am now a Gaggia Classic owner, and much, much happier. A much better machine, and a good deal cheaper as a bonus.

In the short time Ive been reading I have already learnt so much, which Im sure has put me in good stead to quickly develop my skills. I will be brewing average coffees in no time.

Ive already commenced enquiries with site sponsors on sourcing the parts to perform the Silvia Steam wand mod on my classic, and will soon be on the lookout for a decent tamper, grinder, etc. Ive also enjoyed reading all the other mods, tips and tricks for getting the best out of my Classic.

A big thankyou to Andy, all the moderators, and the site sponsors for devoting their energy, time and money into what I know is a great community here at CS. I know I will never be able to give as much as I will gain from this community, but hopefully one day I will be able to contribute *something*.

                    cheers,
                    Mike

                      Hi folks,

Like some, Ive been lurking in the background and searching through different posts for info for a little while, so thought it time to say hello.

I recently purchased a Silvia and Rocky (following a seemingly endless string of rubbish coffees out on the town).  Followed them up with an introductory barista course at Epic here in Perth and a little bit of online shopping at 5 Senses (excellent service by the way).

Upgrade bug is already nibbling.  Cant help but be drawn towards a PIDkit and Mazzer Mini.  hmmm.... maybe sometime soon.

                      Cheers,
                      Greg

Good to see you stopped lurking and joined the CS club Greg, highly recommend the PID it turns Silvia into a different machine, you should have some expertise after going to the Epic training.
Of course you realise the next step is green beans, roasting, pickups at Epic and meeting fellow Perth CSers.

                          Hi!

Im a brand new member although over the last month or so I have been spending more time on this site than I care to admit to non-snobs...but it has resulted in a classic purchase: the Silvia and Rocky combo. This is my first machine and grinder and I love that my place now smells like a yummy cafe.

                          Cheers,
                          Tina

                              Hi All,

Im new, and I dont bite.. much.

ex mocha/cino drinker to double espresso and now FW/Ristretto/Anything goes...

Used to frequent Epic due to workplace and now unfortunately surviving on crapola coffee truck coffee and dismal auto-delonghi coffees.

Visits Mooba occassionally on w/ends due to location.

currently own an EM6910 with complementary conical burr grinder, bang bang and will pick up a RB tamper tomorrow due to 2 short lived Sunbeam standard issues...

inconsistency is my middle name and so is latte-artless.

Any advise for texturing skim milk on the sunbeam as the steam dial seems to have 2 settings - on or off. Thanks

                              -Darren (Perth)

                                Welcome to Coffee Snobs Darren.

You are right - on and off.

Sorry but I dont use skim but the on/off thing wont make a difference.
It might just be the skim you are using.

Can you get decent milk texture with full cream?
