Hi All, looks like I missed posting here first too busy trying to figure out what setup to buy!

Anyway Perth local but just returned from a 3 year stint in Washington state where I picked up a coffee addiction.

I am sure I am not the fussiest of people but I enjoy my coffee, dont so much enjoy paying the price you do for run of the mill stuff so its time to buy a serious machine and make my own.

Great site and I am enjoying reading the various topics.

            Howdy Folks,

Im gonna jump on this threads bandwagon - Ive been lurking around here for a while so its time to come out of the shadows.  Im 30, work in IT - web dev, live in Sydney (northwest), so need I say more about my relationship with coffee...

Ive had my trusty setup - VBM Domobar Super and Mazzer Mini for a couple of years now,  still learning and still loving it, although it may be time for a change soon, we shall see.  So thats it - just sayin helloooo.

            Cheers,
            Dan

Welcome Dan, and wow with a VBM and Mazzer Mini Id have thought youd be set for a long time! What would you be looking at changing to?

              Cheers,
              Sean.

Hey guys, thought I would put a post in this thread too since Ive gotten around to posting.  Im in Canberra and do IT setup, maintenance and support for a small non-profit organisation. I have been using my trusty EM6910, that I have had for about 2 years, with Lavazza pre-ground for the most part.

After Looking at getting a Rocky initially I figured it was time to get a bit more serious as my current setup doesnt really give me much room to improve my technique :P

My ideal machine would be the GS3 but at the moment the Compak K10WBC (which I will get within weeks hopefully) and the Expobar Minore III is what I have my eyes on.  No doubt I will put some pics up once I get the Compak - cant wait

Will have to wait a few months for the Expobar though I think

A belated welcome John and you ought to do yourself a favour and visit CS sponsor Cosmorex. Im sure they will give you some good tips and probably better, fresher coffee than your Lavazza beans.

Do a search on CS for the Izzo Alex Duetto which is a double boiler like the Minore and also one which Chris from Talkcoffee has indicated might even be better than the GS3

                    Thanks flynn

Have been out there twice already and will be sorting out some coffee when I pick up the grinder.

Will look that machine up later tonight it sounds promising, thanks for the heads up.

                      Big call!

THe Izzo is a great machine and offers pretty much everything the GS/3 does, but its not much more than 50% of the price....

I have a GS/3 at home and love it. Whether its worth the extra spend over the Izzo, I am not so sure....Depends what you want I guess...

At the shed, our shop machine is an Duetto and I love that too

                      Chris

                        Hey Chris

I couldnt resist having a quick look at so far it looks awesome. It makes me doubt whether it would be worth spending the extra money for the GS3.  I could well be coming down to Melbourne again in the next month or two so it sounds like a good reason to take a detour

I dont want to clog up the thread so at some stage after I take another look I might start up a thread or post to an existing one about it.

Guess I should add something to this.. New to CS but not to coffee, Im a (lazy) Law/History student and (less lazy) barista based in Brisbane. Great little community here and already learning some new things (and new ways of looking at things) which is always nice!

                          See you round the traps.

                            Hello all,

Just thought Id introduce myself. Came onto this site looking to buy a Silvia to replace and upgrade from my Saeco Via Venizia. Has been a good machine for the past 6 years but has all but kicked the bucket.

Long story short, did end up buying a Silvia from a forum member, got it home and found, as predicted, my Delongi Grinder was incompatible. Picked up a Sunbeam EM0450 and am happy as a tweaked pig in mud.

Have been increasing my learning curve since entering the forum.

                            More later.
                            Tony
