Welcome Dan, and wow with a VBM and Mazzer Mini Id have thought youd be set for a long time! What would you be looking at changing to?

    Cheers,
    Sean.
Thx for the welcome Sean and Co,
The VBM is awesome .. its a beast ..  but with an appropriately beastie size! I still dont have a place to call my own (VBM or more of a deposit.. an easy choice!).  So yeah .. Domobar Jnr maybe? Open to other suggestions of a similar size.

Hi! Well, Im not a coffeesnob per se since I dont actually drink that much coffee, but since we got an EM6910 and EM0480, I sure as heck enjoy making them! (love the smell of freshly ground beans)

So Ive only been at it for just over a week now. Used my family as guinea pigs who werent particularly happy in the beginning being served very bitter and luke warm espresso :-[

But Ive now reached a point where if Im out of the house, theyll wait until I get back so I can make them a coffee

Currently the favourite beans from friends and family are Genoveses Super Brazil and St. Alis Champion. Although were still on the hunt for something better.

My extractions are now pretty consistent so Im now dabbling in latte art. Heres one I made yesterday, although now Im having a hard time trying to replicate it ... hahahah ... oh well.

Im having a blast and Im only too happy to make coffee. Who knows, I may even start drinking them!

          Hi C-Snobbers,

Found this site after doing a Google search for the Silvia. After doing fairly extensive research, and based on my perceived needs, and feedback from a work colleague, I ended up going with the EM6910. I actually made the purchase from a For Sale listing on this site. Also came with the Rancilio Rocky grinder, so if I do decide to upgrade to the Silvia in the future, Ill already have half the recommended pack  ;D

Prior to this upgrade, I was using a small Breville machine and a Krupps burr grinder. Customer feedback suggests I was doing ok with it too  8-)

I use Fiori beans, and am working my way through their single origin beans, having tried the Kenyan and now the Zambian ones.

Now a little about myself - I live in the western suburbs of Perth, near Scarborough Beach. Have been in this area for most of my life, and cant see any reason to move away.

I work as a paramedic, and coffee is considered a tool of my trade, especially on night shifts

Im currently laid up at home due to a fall from my motorbike, resulting in a fractured ankle, so I now have plenty of time to get to know my new EM6910

When Im not riding my Ducati (currently in the shop getting repaired) I like to kite surf, eat nice food, drink good wine, watch good movies, and relax with great friends

And no, I dont like moonlit walks along the beach, and Im not telling you my star sign > ;D

          Cheers
          Rick

Yeah, paramedic + motorbike rider doesnt seem to make much sense to a lot of people, but hey, I go to more car accidents and I still drive a car (feeble attempt at justification)

Started some group rides with PSB (Stoneys group rides) but now mostly do stuff with Perth Riders (PR).

Yep, no kiting either, but its not really kiting season now, anyway so not so bad :-/

Re beans - Fiori roast on premises, and I buy factory direct. Apart from roasting my own, how much fresher can I get ? :-?

Evening Bryan, My first machine was a Krups, lasted me for about 12 months then I bought a Silvia/Rocky combo, they served me well for a good few years, I have only recently upgraded again.
As they say its a journey.

Well after weeks of lurking and waiting for a good machine to come up, here or fleabay,

Ive bit the bullet and bought Petes ECM Botticelli II he had for sale here.

Now counting the days to Saturday to pick it up.

Will be (I hope) a nice upgrade from my Sunbeam em4200c, which has been a good little soldier for 7 years, has taken me all the way from pre-ground super market coffee to better Lavazza creme gusto coffee.
To now fully modded with unpressurized group, dual hole steam tip and resistor placed in steam cycle wiring to slow the pump down and premium beans from Chosen beam, its now putting out the best coffee and milk it ever has.

Will be sad to pack it up in some ways, but the future looks bright with the Ecm.

Next step the popcorn maker is going to the garage, see some green beans coming my way.

Thanks to the host Andy, for the warm welcome and thanks to all for the insightful post on all things coffee thats led me here.

                              Cheers,

                              Greg
