Re: Hi! Im new here. Go easy on me!
Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster. I am new but you dont have to go easy on me.
Have traditionally made my cappucino at home with a stovetop percolator thingy (dont know what you call it, the water goes in the bottom chamber, the middle contains the coffee and the steam makes the coffee push up through the spout and into the top chamber) and frothed my milk using a miniature coffee plunger.
I was given a Breville Cafe Roma as a birthday pres (my dad has had one for years and loves it) and my cappucinos are not brilliant. I think my milk is coming out okay but the coffee tastes sort of... weak and kind of wishy washy and not really rich and aromatic like I want it to. I was given a breville burr grinder second hand and the grind is best on the finest setting but no matter how hard I tamp the coffee the water just runs through too fast. Ive had a look on these forums for hints but a lot of the language and names of parts used here escapes me so hoping with the helping hand of CSers I can get a good cappucino from my machine

long post over!! )
