    • New to CS

      Hi everyone,

just an intro post. Ive been reading CS for a few weeks now, finally decided to register an account. Im in NSW and I just started to appreciate coffee after I received a moka pot (from a vittoria gift pack) last christmas.

I have quickly transitioned from supermarket vacuum packed coffee to currently hand grinding my own Kuranda coffee beans.

Im planning to upgrade to a Bellman CX25P after reading some posts on the forum and hoping to achieve some crema(after much failure on my moka pot).

I hope I can achieve something similar to those fancy nespresso advertisement shots and to learn how to do some latte art over time.

My mate, who did a short barista course, told me stove tops will always burn the coffee and there isnt enough pressure to make a good coffee. I told him I read that low pressure stove tops just need more adjustment in terms of courseness and the tamping.

Im hoping I can prove him wrong by making some nice crema with the bellman and taking some macro photography with the cuppa just to show him it can be done(from what i have read here!).

Hello everyone, a long time reader, but never really had anything to say. I have been making coffee, for myself, for over 10 years, started with instant, worked up to ground and now am using beans, thanks to CS for the advice on the Kyocero. My main methods of coffee brewing are Aeropress and Moka Pot, but am now looking at Presso, Bacchi, and La Sorrentina. I prefer body and strength of coffee. Both the Presso and Bacchi can pull down 9 bar, so technically there is no difference between them? From reading existing threads no one seems to have really said anything about taste difference between them. They are both technically espresso.

        Any advice?

New here. Love good espresso coffee and ride a Kawasaki ER6. The two go together well. Suppose I should turn it into a Cafe Racer?

                    Greetings Coffee Snobs.

My story is that I am no stranger to good coffee having spent about a year in Italy (where you get some pretty ordinary stuff as well). What I was not aware of was that a prosumer range of coffee machines was available which enable anyone prepared to spend the $ to have great coffee at home. I am thinking this is like an open secret where everyone thinks that everybody interested already knows about a subject.

So far as I was aware the machines you see in the department stores is where home coffee peaked. How wrong I was. A series of events led me to a fellow who owned a Bezzera Domus Galatea. He made me a coffee. Wow!

So, I thought Id better find out more about this category of machine which led me to this web site and, recently, to one of this sites sponsors.

                    I am saving :-)

Looking forward to expanding my knowledge with the help of the good folk here.

                    Gp

                        Hi CS.

Ive been reading the forum for a while now, so I thought I should sign up and get involved.

I dont really have any fancy stuff - yet.  My usual brew comes from a stovetop espresso and some semi-textured milk from that wedding present "pod" machine.

Thanks for all the great information.

                          Hi all,

Been meaning to introduce myself for a few weeks now but just never got around to it. It became all the more urgent this morning as Im heading off for a few days to Rainbow Beach (2.5hrs north of Brisbane at the base of Fraser Is) and was hoping someone could tell me where to find a nice coffee. The obvious and simple solution was to just bring along my fairly recently acquired Expobar Office Control with me so thats what Ill be doing and some Ethiopian Sidamo that I just started trying and loving.

My coffee obsession started slowly back in 99 when I bought a La Pavoni Europiccola. Taught me a fair bit about the art of making coffee but I was only scratching the surface. Then I had to get a simpler machine that my mum could use when she came to visit in 05 so I got a Gaggia Syncrony compact. Not quite in the same class but was Ok for what it was. I just sold the gaggia to a friend and got myself the Expobar and am very happy after some tweeking. Still got the La Pavoni after 6 years of being a display piece only so it will be up for sale soon now that Ive cleaned and serviced it.

Havent got a grinder yet so have been doing a lot of research and will be on the lookout for a good 2nd hand commercial one which Ill add a timer to and make doserless (i think).

Anyway, better finish off my packing so we can hit the road.

                          Cheers

                          Claudio.

                              Hi all
1st post on the forum, although have been reading lots of posts during the past week. I am always amazed at just how much info and discussion there is on forums. Anyway its a miserable cold wet winter in Central Vic, and I have decided its time to buy an espresso machine and grinder. I think I want a machine that I have control of (that is not a super auto or pod type) under $1500. I would appreciate some suggestions as to where I could have a play with a couple of different models in the Melbourne area.

                                Im in the same boat!
Initially I had my eye on a E6910 + grinder (~$700), but given the timing have decided to wait and see how the new Breville Dual Boiler performs... I know its twice the budget of the Sunbeam, but looking to make a good initial investment in a piece of kit that hopefully lasts 10+ years. So will have to wait and see how it performs!

(Have been a lurker here at CS for a few months now, but finally decided it was time to sign up  )
