    Re: coffee on the road

:-[ im squirming, JB....thanks for the compliment!!

Robusto,   JB is right... i lay equal claim to most of the tools, although i will admit that i avoid  the 9" ... dont like the "kick-back"!!
Rob, on the other hand, is quite happy to let me rule the range...kitchen range, that is!
and in return he gets affogato... for breakfast!! ;D ;D

(Still, I reckon a MIG welder would probably be more practical, as well as being smaller, lighter. Perhaps a bargaining chip for a future Hers acquisition,  Lizzi)
we considered it, Robusto, but the Peerless is up to the biggest jobs, and can do it on the gen set...

With all that machinery, Lizzi, you or Rob should be able to knock up a reasonable metal hopper for the new grinder. (I had a MIG in mind for that specific purpose!)

Thanks Bullitt,...yes, being nomads, whether grey or not, suits us... a

and when you travel like this, you do need "work clothes"....you commit yourself to regular "tools-out" just to keep the show on the road.
basically you replace the lawn mower with a grease gun, your tool boxes travel with you,...

            L

            YAY, replace the lawnmower,
now I AM absolutely convinced, dont mind the other stuff so much on occasions.
9" angle grinders are real mens tools, so much so that they have been banned on some industrial sites, so dont blame you for avoiding it, but I guess if it substitutes for a chainsaw as well,...

And here I was thinking that in between driving, it was all lolling about on the lounge,
            and I would get bored.

When are you coming to Tassie?????

oops... sorry Bullitt, missed your post, otherwise i would have replied earlier!! :-[

we aim to start swimming early February... the fares on the TT line drop to "shoulder season" then and there is a motorhome rally in Tassie in Feb: we are sort of looking at catching it.

however, having said that, our plans have been known to change... dramatically and frequently!

at this stage the idea is to park "the convoy" somewhere nice and use the car for reconnoitering... and repeat that in various corners of the state.
Rob is looking forward to the roads down there as his bike has been sadly underused here in WA: not enough bendy bits in the roads!! ;D ;D i think he was on the bike 2 days out of the whole of the last year, and one of those days was the ride-day at Wanneroo raceway!

ok, so this is the scenario..

*Rob has finally finished work  (working more than 12 hours per day is NOT good for you!! > )and is frantically re-wiring the dash so he can put the steering wheel back on :-/ .... :-?(do we need it???? :-/0

*my little jobs (repairs and maintenance) are also finished and the major trip-preparations almost out of the way ( only need to give the batteries a conditioning charge)

*an order has been placed with 5 Senses for some greens to keep me caffeinated for the next few months, until i can catch up with another BeanBay "over East"

*accomodation as been booked "over East" with a deadline to keep...

and then this... any idea how we are going to get out of here???? paddlin frantically??? :-/ :-/ :-/

                    No probs Lizzi,

I dont get to check the site every day anyway,
and I thought I had already posted a reply.....

Anyway, Im sure Rob would love getting the bike out on some of the Tassie roads,
                    especially if he likes corners
And as Robusto said in another post, the scenery is great wherever you are.

As far as your current situation goes, it doesnt look nice, and 12.5 tons moving through that water would need pretty solid ground underneath,...
I guess it would be frustrating when you are ready to move on...
time to make another brew or two

                      Re: coffee on the road

Hhhmmm....I once found myself looking out the window of my camper to water surrounding me like that. The event I was attending had ended the day before and Id spent the night so-as to have a full day to drive rather than leaving late at night.

It took a two truck to help me onto the road surface and I finally managed to pull out at about noon. Later the next day I found out that early that morning the dike (about 20m from where I was parked) gave way and instead of a few centimeters of water there was suddenly 4 meters there.

LOL It was bad, but not quite bad enough to require a semi to help me out, just a single tow truck. : :-[

This was next to a dike for the Mississippi River and that spring turned out to be the worst flood season in many decades. A picture of the town where I was parked made the cover of Time magazine. Twas not a good year to be living alongside the Old Miss that year.
