Maccas isnt the only place selling meat patties in a bun Robusto.
There are plenty of places still selling real hamburgers.

We also used to have a great take-away/cafe that made REAL hamburgers,
always took longer than Maccas to get one, but they were worth the wait,
(meaning the food was popular because it was good, not that they were hopelessly inefficient)
unfortunately I think it was his marriage breakup that got the better of the owner and he closed up.

Robusto, even though i will admit to the occasional feed/coffee from one of the chains we make an effort to seek out the small operator where possible.
not only does it give us the opportunity to meet the locals & get to know the area we are in, but it tastes better (mostly )...

sometimes it may take a bit more time to locate the caf, find a seat, put in the order and wait for it to be filled...
when we are not in a hurry, we choose to make that time available for it.
and since Rob and i are by no means exceptional individuals i assume there is more people like us, here and in other countries, who like to receive a bit more attention to the details of their purchases, whether it be food or something else.

from street-vendors in Asia to the cafes in Paris, burger joints in the US and chips shops in the UK: where there is more than one to choose from, people will make choices based on quality, taste, quantity, hygiene & service... and not just go for the most convenient or cheapest option.

        i STILL have faith!! ;D

Coastal, i am regretting our decision to go over the top (Mildura) back to Vics NE... mmmm, have to think about that...

Lizzi the Great Ocean Road is an awesome drive, maybe not quit as warm as Mildura, but well worth the drive,

it makes the beautiful tip to NE Vic all the more the pleasurable.

          Craig.

          Where are you now??

            Hi Craig...
were in WA, Busselton, at the moment, but will be leaving here monday aiming to get to NE Vic end of Nov.

we spent 5 months in Colac at the Lake Colac caravan park in 03....
did several laps of the GOR and also toured the Grampians extensively... both on the motor-bikes as well as in the car.
great fun, and worth repeating, but, we have a friend in Mildura we really need to catch up with... so i think the road home will be via there.

however, we could make a day trip in the car from our "summer-residence" prior to hopping across Bass Straight and catch up with people and places down there where you are... i will run it past the pilot....

Dad opened his first takeaway back in the 50s and I worked with him in some others over the years.
I reckon I still make a fairly decent one myself.

Love the GOR - especially on the motorbike. OG prefers the bicycle, I am just a bit too lazy for that pallaver.

Havent done it for a while so I may have to have a wee chat with OG and come for a visit.
