It might come as a surprise to some, but Tassie is presently very dry. This November to January period was the driest on record for Hobart; the hydro dams are at 23% and much of central and Eastern/North Eastern Tasmania are drought declared.
Yes, Id heard that from the few folk from Tassie that are on a scooter forum. They were saying that although terrific riding weather, itd be nice for some rain too!

Rain - is that that wet stuff that falls out of the sky?

Havent seen much of it in Adelaide, like Grey said. We are on restrictions, and it doesnt help that Victoria is Bogarting all the water from the Murray and not sharing.

Weather huh? Well lets see. In the last couple of weeks the area has seen temps down too -40C followed a couple of days later by a near record setting heat wave where temps hit +8C. Then there was the half meter of snow that got visited upon the area yesterday.

          Its raining again here.

In fact, it looks like it has set in and will be around for some time.

Going from bone dry with clear blue skies to raining constantly is such a shock to the system! But its nice all the same!

I really had to go back and dig this one up! Cant believe that the last post about rain was back in February!

Since then we really havent had much rain, there has been at least a few months with absolutely nothing.

But weve had two inches over this past weekend and already everything has a green tinge to it! And not because its going mouldy! Amazing how the country recovers really.

Just had 9mm at Blighty (half way between Deni and Finley) just in time to save dying crops and pasture.
First rain for 3weeks, which brings our monthly total to 20mm and total for the year to 7 inches!!

Cows actually had a feed of saved green grass yesterday instead of silage/hay mix. They ran into the paddock.
Lots of extra- runny sh-- in the dairy today tho!!

Dare we actually hope that were coming to the end of this 7 year blight of a drought?

So far, in the past three weeks, here in the dry old outback (yes, apparently my town is classified as "outback"...not that I feel it is that far out!) weve had regular rainfall of about 50mm...

Now, that might seem not a whole lot compared to what some areas in this country experience as regular rainfall but I can assure you...for us thats a WHOLE lot! ;D

This morning, on a public holiday Monday, I had the pleasure of waking up to the sounds of thunder and rain on the tin roof. All very nice for a sleep in! And even better for sitting around and enjoying a cup of coffee...hmm...nothing like watching the rain over the rim of a cup nicely brewed coffee...
