This is why I love my van, no more sales = close door, smile, wave and drive home.

Some people have a lot of nerve they think that the world is made for them and everyone should fit in around their needs.

Hopefully the new rule will sort it out.

Years ago a customer at the bank I was a teller at, asked me why we werent opening to 5:00pm that day considering were closed the next day (Good Friday).
I told her that we only opened late on Fridays and asked her when I was going to buy Easter eggs for my kids?
        That seemed to silence her.

Ive never believed "the customer is always right", but will make allowances because its my job to serve.
But its only my job to a point. >
I work to live, not live to work.

            Yep.
Ya gotta work sometimes to overcome my succinctness.

We had a similar rule in the bank to stop people bringing in huge money boxes for counting 5 minutes before closing.

Some customers will take a mile if you give them an inch.

e.g. Years ago (early 80s) my branch was being rebuilt.
The accountant, some other staff and me were packing things on a Saturday morning before the builders moved in for demolition.
Ill point out that banks hadnt been open on a Saturday for probably over 25 years.
I spotted a customer walking in and knowing what was about to happen, prompted the Accountant to serve him.
            It was funny.
There was Bill trying to explain that we couldnt convert his foreign currency. Yes the doors were open but no the bank wasnt.

I see in the Bakery Industry magazine today, that a bakery in Cronulla has banned the use of mobile phones in the shop. The manager (who was reported as being a 22 year old female) said that one of her trainee staff had been abused by a female customer after innocently and politely asking how she was whilst on the customer was on the phone. The customer abused the staff member and then apologised to the person they were on the phone to.

The manager decided enough was enough and that from then on phones were banned. She thought that most of their customers thought it was a fair thing and if someone is on the phone in the shop, they wont get served.

We pretty much do that in our shop as well. If you answer your phone whilst Im serving, dont expect me to keep serving you...I will go to the next customer! And I nearly asked a customer to leave the other day, especially when he was needing to use the F word to describe how good his tractor was to a caller at the top of his voice. I really dont think that that is appropriate anywhere... :

Mostly our customers are pretty good, in fact, Ive seen some who will leave the shop to talk to someone on their phone. Others might just ignore the call. You can always tell the deaf farmers whove spent years around noisy machinery...theyre the ones with the really loud and annoying Nokia ringtones... ;D And every time I hear the old fashioned telephone ring, I have to resist the urge to yell out "Telephone"! I dont know why that makes me want to do that... :-?

I reckon its the height of rudeness on public transport and in cafes, shops and restaraunts. Nobody is too important to use voicemail or walk outside with their call.....

I was on the other side today. of the 4 coffees i had 1 was great (i made it) one was ok, drive thru cafe with fresh roasted coffee ( been there before), 2 were bad. why do people have to check if im sure i want extra shots of coffee. i asked how many shots in a takeaway ( 2 in 12 oz) then asked for 2 more, normally i have more. also when i say luke warm they must hear xtra hot cause both were to hot. And why would you put sugar in to cup when i said twice no sugar?
From now on im only going to places that i know are good, i tried some different places today and even though they have fancy equip, they dont make good coffee.

                  Sorry just me Barista Venting.

PS Going to epic and velvet and ristretto tomorrow to make up for today. ;D

Why do some people come late to pick up a coffee order they phoned in and then think you will stop making the next 5 orders to make them another coffee because they forgot someone in the office. when i said they would have to come back they were shocked . another rule is forming, no phone orders for morning coffee. >

Ah yes, or when they phone an order through and turn up 5 mins after they said and expect you to remake it.

A man came in on Monday, his first time here, and I asked if he needed help as he stared blankly at the coffee selection. He said he was looking for a coffee that tasted like coffee but did not want to buy any in case it wasnt to his liking. I asked him a few questions as a starting point. He had been buying Aurelia (sp?) from the supermarket and that was the best thing he had tried yet, but his local supermarket didnt stock it anymore.

I offered to make him a free cup so he could taste our house blend. His wife and son then came up and said they would like to taste a cup as well. I said they should all have a sip of the 1 cup to which they replied that they wanted to taste a whole cup. Thats not the best part.

He came up to me after he finished the cup and said it was too weak for him. He wanted a coffee like his mother used to make and has never been able to find it, he was desperate to find something he liked. I asked if he could describe it to me and he replied. I want a coffee that has the aftertaste of a burnt cigarette. I couldnt help myself, I replied "have you tried brewing your coffee in a dirty ashtray?" He stared blankly waiting for me to say something. I ended it with "well this probably isnt the place for you then"
