I stick to food prep and leave them to it. I cant change it so choose not give myself extra stress. Enjoy better coffee at home thanks to the info I got from this forum.
To top it off I think my boss doesnt like more because I know more about good coffee than she does.
Im in the process of searching for a job that will help me hone my skills and passion rather than ignore them.
Cust: Can I have a T/A cap and a long mac?
Me: sure, would you like the macc topped up? (Its a perth thing)
Cust: yes, with water.
Me: oh sorry, a long BLACK. I thought you said macc.
Cust: I did.
Me:...so you want me to put in some hot water before your milk?
Cust: no, all hot water.
Me: ... *thecustomersalwaysright*
Sure thing, dollface.
My name is LE
Not yoo hoo or hey you or oi there
i dont come when you click your fingers
if you glare at me i will not make your coffee first.
if you order a milkshake for your brat, dont look at me like an idiot and say you ordered coffee when i ask who the drink is for,
and dont let your kids jump on the couch, it is not a trampoline
LE
PS that was from 1 customer this morning. (great way to start the day)
If I ask you politely to get your child to stop jumping on chairs, Im being polite.
If I ask you a second time to get your child to stop jumping on the chairs, then jumping on to the couch, Im being nice.
If I bellow it out, directed at the kid, in front of a swath of other customers, I damn well want the kid to stop before he A) hurts himself. B) hurts the regular old dear on the table next to you. and C) breaks our furniture.
Dont expect me to apologise for telling the kid to stop, I asked you twice already and you are interested more in your effing mobile than you are to the health & safety of your offspring. Please do take the matter up with my boss, who is "a close friend of yours", I understand the name cant come to you at the moment because youre going bright red as every other customer near by glances at you, They saw what was going on long before I made it obvious. They arent stupid and nor am I.
In the event you have the balls to call my bosss number that I gave you - which as a close friend I understand you may not have - feel free to describe to him what happened as Ill have him on the phone as soon as you leave the store, asking him to check over the security footage that has your kid acting like my store is a playground.
Please also remind him hat youve been a regular here for the last ten years, and that Im a new person who was extremely rude. Dont be shocked when he tells you weve been open 8 years, for which Ive worked 5 of them.
Im gonna go a little off topic (not being from a barista) but I need to vent.
Dear DHL & Toll Ipec, must be delivered to CSU in Thurgoona BEFORE 12pm today does not mean please leave the projectors sitting on the dock until about 9am this morning and then decide to ship them out. Further, dodging questions and claiming you werent told it was urgent doesnt make the problem go away. If I lose this Uni back to NEC Ill be very freakin pd off.
If its urgent, keep it the f**k away from Toll Ipec.
Oh, and side note to DHL, I know youre charging us for warehousing and logistics by the cubic metre, and breaking up a box of 10 miniDV tapes to ship as separate items in boxes 5 times larger than the original box of 10 is a great way to line your products, but it is environmentally irresponsible and a massive waste of resources.
When you know better than the boss who is instructing you to make crap coffee, would be my rant of the day.
Also places with a complete unergonomic design. No fatigue mats (my back already hurts), no sinks, small fridge at the bar and the storage area down two flights of stairs and then a short walk across an underground car park to a coolroom. A coffee machine connected straight to a main with no filtration system in place, a blend aimed primarily for milk based drinks yet 70% of all the orders are espresso.
I could go on, but seriously, at the end of the day.. architects should not build coffee shops, baristas should.
