We dont watch many movies but every now and then a friend (that is in the industry) says "you have to see..." and he rarely gives us a dud.
We just watched:
The Jammed.
It won the 2007 Inside Film Awards for Best Feature Film, Best Music and Best Script.
It also scored 7 AFI 2008 nominations:
AFI Award for Best Film: DEE MCLACHLAN, ANDREA BUCK & SALLY AYRE SMITH
AFI Award for Best Direction: DEE MCLACHLAN
AFI Award for Best Original Screenplay: DEE MCLACHLAN
AFI Award for Best Editing: DEE MCLACHLAN & ANNE CARTER
AFI Award for Best Lead Actress: EMMA LUNG & VERONICA SYWAK
AFI Award for Best Supporting Actress: SASKIA BURMEISTER
and at the AFIs last week it scored ZERO!
The fact that something could score 7 pointy-end nominations and then missout, along with a discussion about the whole Jim Schembri / AFI thingy is how we got onto the topic of this film.
The Jim Schembri article that started the conversation...
(PS: For what its worth, I think Jim was right on the money ergo the outburst from Jimmy Jack)

Anyway...
without any spoilers, the point of the post was if you want to see a powerful local film with a great story, music, filming and actors grab a copy of The Jammed.
