had a wholesale customer in scotland who complained that her coffee was getting weaker as the day progressed. She was filling the portofilter once in the morning, and using the same shot all day. honest.

      : Thats insane! Cheap though
Ugh, imagine being the 100th customer of the day

Actually when I was reading about "fluffy" I was thinking of my 16.2 hand chestnut Quarterhorse who gets very fluffy in winter and hence has the nickname "Fluffy"...

Didnt realise it was a name for a drink in Enzed...

Ok, I am back on day shift in the cafe after many long nights and I had forgotten some of the quirks of the elderly.

You want your milk burnt maam? Fine. 1/4strength is not weak enough? I will swab the bottom of your cup with a moisten coffee-cotton bud and milk it up. How rude of me not to remember your order as you have been here every day for your whole adult life and I am just returned to work from having some time off to have a baby and been confined to working the hours of the day you arent there! I know, I am a selfish, spoilt whippersnapper for ruining your day and not giving you a mug of tea at the cup size price, as you are accustomed to getting!

But what really grinds my gears though is the cunning old tightarse who has figured out there is a few mls more in the latte glass, so asks for a latte with more froth, oh and be a dear and put some choc sprinkle on top! Well done Old Sow, you saved yourself 30cents! Now on to macdonalds for an icecream!

What you should do is put a heap more froth in so they get less milk than in the cap and send them away happy.

I must say, I was almost tempted to comment as in line with the one below..

However the next post also suggested that others may also feel frustrated at times...

While some customers are out right snotty, others do not understand or are on a tight budget..

If a pensioner wants to save 30c for some frothy pigs fat... Then what is wrong with that ?

Regardless that her husband died in Vietnam, her grandson seriously injured in a schoolies prank, she is not special... OR has a cool 1mil in a term deposit that when she dies goes to some group no one has ever hear of...

She/He still has the right to consider their pennies and spend as they see fit. Did they lie / steal or be abusive or just made a smart choice ???

I had to but a new stereo amp... I went to 3 different shops and played all three...

So am I an old sow or a smart shopper :-/

                    Wow Melicious... mean AND nasty

Congrats on the new baby, but maybe you ought to catch up on some sleep before launching yourself back on the public.  Youre sounding a bit Basil Fawlty there.

With a bit of luck and good management well all be old one day

Hmmm...the late rider asking for "oh yes, just sprinkle a little choc on top there" really does suggest that the cunning old sod knows exactly what shes doing and is certainly trying to circumvent the system. This isnt smart shopping, its downright shifty.

And yes, our elderly are the knowledge of the past wrapped up in a sometimes wonderful package, who are a treat to sit with and listen to. But it sounds like our dear here is the one who when youre about to get on the bus, simply with no sign of any shame whatsoever pushes straight in front of you without so much as a by your leave. What can you do but laugh. 8-)

Can I put workplace venting under this banner?? Forgive me for indulging. Got to work tonight, and went downstairs to make sure the coffee machine was turned on. Found one PF still locked into the collar, puck still nicely in place. Prob been left there since around midday, early afternoon at the latest. Checked other head, and found screen resembling a chocolate biscuit as it obviously hadnt been flushed either. Dont you just want to grab the back of a neck and introduce a forehead to a nice piece of stainless steel.

The saving grace once it has been cleaned up is the nice fresh bag of Di Bellas in the fridge.

Thanks for the suggestion but really Im sweet as pie and love my old peeps, its just a few sour apples spoiling the barrel. So forgive me for thinking the customer venting thread was the place to have a laugh at their quirks, cause as we all know sometimes thats all you can do - have a laugh at it.

And this is on the money. Im happy to help people get good value for money - for instance, our loyalty cards get stamped for every hot drink regardless of size, and Im quick to suggest getting a mug size freebie even if I know the person only usually gets cup sizes. That to me is smart shopping - youre entitled to it, so I say "hey. why not?"

But working around the system to save a few pennies is just being a tightarse. If youre ok with being known as a tightarse though, I wont stop you. I still make you your extra frothy latte with the choc sprinkle.
But I reserve the right to say to myself "that really was just a tall glass of cappuccino", and share the fact with people I thought would also get a laugh out of it.

My favourites are those that stuff the napkin and spent sugar satchels inside the cup and shove them down with the spoon. :-X

Haha, yeah we get those too - but mostly they think its helpful! Cause its easier to clear the table... nevermind the extra time it takes to remove the debris once you get the cups back to the dirty dishes trolley.

Just be glad it isnt cigarette butts! (I am serious... blaaargh!)
