    server load boys... server load.

I capped it at 30 because "people" might type big numbers in there and flatten the server.

    :
You just new one of us would test it.

I notice my nick doesnt always show up in the Users Online/Members list. Im logged in and have clicked to the home page, not backspaced to it. This can happen when first connecting or when already logged in and going to the home page from another area.

Just go here http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?action=recenttopics;display=30and then save as a bookmark or a tab...
Not what I meant. The RSS is context sensitive - it will display the last 30 posts of the forum area you select from the Home Page. Give it a try. Open the Coffee News and Events topic from Home and then hit RSS.

I also found that tweak you posted but dont use it because of the possible server load. I dont want a return to the days of the old 20 second refresh error.

My FF Bookmark uses the default last 20 posts. If you havent checked CS for a while, you can use the context sensitive RSS to view the last 30 posts in forum areas you are most interested on.

I use the last 20 by default...  If I have been off line I try the 3o.

Note:  RSS still not working in Chrome or FF 3.05 for me..  But now works in IE7  :-/

I feel sorry for Andy and any others trying to solve this....

RSS works for any number of other sites I use and thus; now that I have been tempted... I want it but I may have to wait a while..

Andy...  I used the RSS feed check as indicated at the bottem of the CS pages and got this:  http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl%3Faction%3DRSSrecent

The validate by diredct input also gave some funny xml errors..

May or may not be of assistance.

When that happens does it say online or offline above your avatar in posts?

Working fine in FF3.0.5 and IE7 this second... but not soon when a post with and ampersand in the title or subject makes the list. Ampersands in the text are ok. Im still looking for a solution to this.. its the same problem.

Not sure what you got but I just ran it and it passed with "This is a valid RSS feed".
The only problems were date errors (because there were no ampersands in titles when I ran it).

              The date error is interesting.
              Implausible date: Thu, 15 Jan 2009 11:29:44 +0000
The validator thinks the date is in the future!

The forum is using server time and because the time is correct it does not add anything to the GMT offset. The fix for this might be to set the server time to GMT and then provide an offset in the forum software but that would likely break lots of other things on the server. I think I know a work around and will try it later in the day... beware of whacky post dates when im playing.

Good to find some positives too!

After running the front page through a validator the other night I found 199 XHTML errors! Most of them were minor (wrong case, some tags not closed etc). Took a few hours but they are all fixed now so there will be some other flow-on benifits too.

                    We are getting closer!

                      Online.

Ive not seen this bug today. Perhaps fixing the xhtml errors on the front page resolved the issue.

RSS might not be RS now.

I think its fixed as I certainly cannot break it with ampersands now. If anyone using the RSS gets an error please let me know what the error was and which browser or reader you were using. Ta.

                          Hi Andy,

tried to sens a PM to 2 users and it wiped it out and came up not sent possible spamming Long Message had to be retyped

Is it possible to raise the level of allowed recipients to perhaps 4 or 5? This should be plenty for most situations with PMs without being a potential spammer problem. Also a note mentioning max recipients in the box (dont know if that can be done)

                          cheers

Ill add it to the list and findout.

It didnt fix it. The bug is still there.

Ive also suddenly started getting connection requests from woopra.com and woopra-ns.com when connecting here.
