Hi Humphrey
For some info on aussies that have built segways with parts locally see:
http://lca2007.linux.org.au/talk/185.html and
http://www.netcraft.com.au/geoffrey/meta/
They often use *matching* motors from wheelchairs.
My wife and I go to the LinuxConfs each year and we had a ride on Geoffreys segway one year. Its pretty scarey at first :-) Have fun.
Mike
Thanks Mike. I watched the video of that linux conf presentation the other week. Pretty cool. It was actually what gave me the idea to do it. I really should get along to one of those linux confs one day -- i hear they are quite fun :-)

Update:
(thanks for the CSVs Humphrey, I passed them onto the programmer and it helped as mine dont have the problem and were of not much use!)
I just heard that some of the variation in C/min that you guys are seeing was a flow-on from the logic / rounding used to determine the lowest temperature of the roast.
Changes are scheduled that should make it steadier for those that see some variation now and it will be a variable in the config file for those that like to fiddle
Until the new version has been written/tested/released as a stop-gap you can set the updates from 1 second to 3 seconds in the config file which will have a similar effect of making the rolling average over a longer period of time.

Awesome -- Sounds great!
On a side note, Im planning of building a segway, see http://www.tlb.org/scooter.html
To automatically stay balanced the segway needs to calculate the current angle and current change in angle. So, I have a feeling that Im going to run into the same issues as were having here :-)
