but what exactly goes in a babycino?
Its a cup full of nothing, unless of course its spilt. Then it goes everywhere.

Im a Yank and we dont have them here
    Lucky you!

Im not that mean....Actually, its a small cup of texturised milk, usually mainly just the froth with chocolate sprinkles. Adults order them for their children so that their children can pretend to be adults.

instead of giving kids a nice glass of warm foamy milk
          I obviously missed this earlier.

The only thing I can think of that is nice about cows milk is the taste. And if you think its good for children, thats just not correct.

Ill leave it to the pros to tell you what goes in a babycino. We make spottycinos for our kids: espresso cup filled two-thirds with warm milk with a dash of maple syrup, topped with textured milk and sprinkled with hundreds & thousands (sorry, probably incomprehensible to a yank - tiny multicolo(u)red balls - a kind of sprinkle).

I can feel a dentest comming on....
Ah, AM, its but a wee step on the way to weaning them onto espresso.  Our 5 y.o. is already eyeing the national latte art championship for 2017.  And he hasnt even seen Ho Man Lams fish yet...

              Re: Children and cafes

As a parent - and a single one at that. I was the one who was responsible for the way my children behaved. It had nothing to do with the way I was raised. Nor does it have to do with who says what I can do to raise my children. It is MY responsibility to raise responsible well mannered adults. And scarily enough I have managed that.

I very rarely smacked my children - unless they had done something really bad. I did have the look. My kids knew if we were out and they got the look there was trouble when they got home, usually in the form of losing privileges.

As Hoyks pointed out, I very rarely went out to cafes and restaurants, until my kids really had a good idea on what is and and isnt acceptable behaviour, unless there was some kind of childcare available so I could relax.

As for the parents who cannot control their childrens behaviour. In my experience, these parents generally arent the stay at home mum (or dad) but the career mum who shoves her children in child care 5 days a week and allows strangers to raise her children. She doesnt spend real time with her kids, so how the hell does she know how to control them?

I am sorry you feel that, I was not trying to insult anybody. Just stating my personal opinion. However, to get back to your post, there is always a choice. I say what I say from personal experience. My mother stayed at home with me until I was about 7. When she was first married and had me she had to leave her nice, well paid government job. That was not having a choice. Then in the 70s things changed and she was able to go out to work. Luckily enough her job was seasonal so she was generally home when I got home from school.

My issue is with parents who put wee babies and toddlers into a childcare situation for 8 -10 hours a day. How many times do we hear parents whinging about how expensive childcare is? To be honest, why go out to work to pay for someone else to care for the child when if we went without some luxuries, we could afford to stay home and care for the child that we chose to bring into the world? The same child for whom we are responsible to raising to be a productive and respectful member of society.

                      Re: Children and cafes

                      Time Out ALL.....

We need to be carefull and respect each other and that many comments are of a general nature and basied on what we have seen and experienced....

I have seen some of the most dangerious kids / murdurers come form some of the best loving  homes etc and have spent much time with others who have stepped out of a home life that would shock you to the core...

In some cases there are issues that force people to use or not use child care... It is not always clear cut..  Opps reminds me of the issues as to Natural birthing or Caesarean...

There is good and bad on all sides and most of us try to do our best...  It is the selfish attuditude of some that get to me; in particular where it is clearly a one sided approch where they want but resuse to give back...

As one going through lots of issues with Drug Addictions and Mental health... So many make assumptions and judge all; by the behaviour of a few...  It is an emotional highway and very hard to not to express ones needs to  refute / defend what may be percived as a personal attack..

Its like brestfeeding in public...  Should be more of it and kids have do not have issues...  It us older people that place our own sexual concepts on to a natural process; that has made it very difficulte for many...

As a parent and a male I find it very rewarding to see the bonding and the interaction between child and parent... I also think that for some it is a gift not to be lost; as for many reasons... Some can not do it but they should also not be victimised ...

                      Conclusion:

We need to respect the rights of others, but also to understand that our percived rights should not compromise others..  It is a balancing act..

Happy to see kids at all ages in a caffe or  high class establishments - Ballet or even Opera...  However teh behaviour must be such that the collective is respected.

Love to all, as Anger "pull even more knives from his back" Management  goes back to his paperwork..
