Re: The Good Customer Repository!
Those customers do seem to make the job worth while and always make you glad to see them. Like one who came in today and said "Hi, havent seen you for a whole week....end." ;D

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
One of my regulars saw me buying Christmas presents during the mad rush and casually added "A bottle of Johnny Blue thanks!" as a joke. You could have knocked him over with a feather when he received a special bottle bag on Christmas Eve with a bottle of Johnny "Blue" label (Blue paper cut to the size of the Johnny Red label sticker and taped over the top) amidst his wifes cries of laughter I believed he called me everything ranging from "Rotten Sod" right through to "Incorrigible Rogue" while going red in the face from trying not to laugh himself.
Happily he turned the tables quite well, buying my girlfriend and I a set of kitchen knives for our new house, the gift label indicating it was for "You Bastard".
I enjoy nothing more at work than having guests who not only enjoy the jokes but join in and swing their own back at us.

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
Ive had a nice customer who took my partner and I out for dinner as thanks for the 6 years of service i had given to her and her family.
Also a lady who bakes me a carrot cake....damn good too.
Another one gives us apples from his orchard.
I love most of the customers and if you go out of your way to make people feel important and dont be afraid to have a chat to anyone and everyone,or give that free glass of water or let somebody off ten cents or whatever it might be........everyone is a potential customer and some of them very loyal for many years. This is what customer service is all about
Take an interest in people and you will have them for life......dont just stand behind your coffee machine with a get out of my face look on......I see this all to often, being a good barista is not all about your coffee talents 8-)

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
Its so nice to come back to work, when customers say:
I missed you so much (accompanied with hugs and kisses);
When I saw the "open" sign on, my heart began to race;
I delayed my flight to Brisbane so that I could come in;
We ran out of coffee on the 5th January, and have only had tea;
I weakened and bought some coffee from the supermarket, though I couldnt bring myself to open the pack;
I cut this rose from the garden just for you.

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
nonuts! is my new catchphrase.
Had a lady request a long black on Sunday night. I gave her the best weve got and she isnt happy. Dissipating crema, you know. It isnt good enough and I know it, but cant change the grind to make it better and working with mass produced less-than-fresh bean supply. She was kind enough to hear me out about the situation with the grind (leaving out the delicate issue of our supplier) and said shed fill out a feedback form to support my push to make better coffee.
Get enough people like that speaking up and we can change the cafe for the better. Imagine a whole nation of coffee drinkers supporting better coffee making practices!

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
A huge day in old Wee Waa town...
Thanks to the dear customer who sent flowers home with my son...a belated birthday greeting...
Thanks to the other dear customers who just cleared tables without fuss or bother today...
Thanks to the grandparents visiting with their cute grandson (who comes in and yells out "nonuts!" everytime he comes in...hes about 2 years old! ;D) who happily sat at the dirty table and never once bothered us about wiping it down...even when I did get over there to do so, were still happy to be at the table regardless....
Thanks to the Belaroma rep turning up in time to offer a quick hug in an otherwise stressful and busy day! And to the customer who tried to boost my ego by calling out "Hey there you sexy thing!" (but no, it didnt work because I seriously did not know who they were talking to... ;D)
Thanks to all those customers who were happy to wait for the following...service, coffee, sausage rolls, sandwiches, cakes, chicken pies, coffee, tea, bread, toasted foccacias, tables being cleared, serviettes and service!
And thanks to the customer who left $4.50 on the table the day before and on returning today for more food and drink, I went to tell them that I had the money if theyd like it back said..."Not at all...keep it."
A sad ending for today however, when a customer came in, one I had thought had gone home from visiting her elderly mother, who was a bit of a much loved and hated customer of ours...loved because she was just a crack up, hated because she could be so bloody minded but you probably know the type I mean...I will admit to laughing once about her arguing with her other girlfriends over lunch one day about the Sunday program being broadcast on Monday... ;D...anyway, the daughter had returned because her mum has had a stroke and is not looking good. Weve not seen this lady since shed broken a hip six months ago...well, it seems we might not again now...
All in all...a rather huge and sometimes entertaining day with a touch of reality thrown in...bring on tomorrow I say!

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
Random dude asks for a double shot flat white in a mug. I explain our standard mugs are made using a double shot already, so "Do you want me to make it a triple?"
And the look of excitement on his face! Like eyes a-blaze, the most marvellous thing hes ever heard of. Massive enthusiasm for a proper, strong coffee. After an arvo of "weak please"s, this look made my night.
If he comes back Ill introduce him to the secret staff order - the quaddie!

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
Ha ha, now youve made my day Mel.
It has been my privilege to work in the disability (now Human Services) sector and have nothing but fond memories. Say, "Good Morning, how are you today?" and you got either a huge smile, hug, vigorous handshake, or all three! Even the odd time when someone would like to demonstrate their disapproval of the day by spitting in your face was at least, honest.
PS: I dont count the kisses from the elderly. :P ;D

Re: The Good Customer Repository!
haha nice one dennis! Im back at work this arvo (after being sick all week) and youve reminded me of someone I might see tonight... I get a lot of hugs n kisses from my elderly dears, but the one that blew me away was a chick about my age who randomly gave me a cuddle when I was out of the box. *virtual peck* for the reminder.
And this one isnt about a customer being kind to me, but it is heart-warming.
We have a guy with Down Syndrome who comes in regularly. Last week he decided he didnt want to be called by his name anymore - he wanted to be called Croc, after one of our barstaff who shares the same name as the late crocodile hunter. So Little Blondie from the bar took him on a tour of the whole club, introducing everyone to her new friend "Croc". He was pleased as punch cause hed gotten everyone to call him Croc.
Sometimes we are lucky enough that all work can stop to indulge someone like that. I dont know much about Down Syndrome, but I do know hes pretty old for someone with it, and I think its great that we can take the time for him.
