  • help needed to wire 12V relay

    excuse my crude drawing......

my understanding is (and just wanting confirmation)

0----------------1  is the current to switch the relay

3-------4 if i wire here it is "on" until current switched it to off

4-----     -------2  if i wire here its "off" until switched when current at 0----1

    thanks

Re: help needed to wire 12V relay

    Depends...

    But in effect yes...

One usualy needs tonknow what the de energised stat is ... Ie. NO. Or NC. Thus you can plan / manage the state in a fail status.. Many forget and it can cause big problems...

What is the intended use ???

      thanks AM

do you mean by this that you need to no what is happening at 0-----1
eg if it has current all the time then reverse my understanding
if it has no current all the time then my understanding is correct

usage is a 12v timer (omron, preset timer press switch to run X time) triggering a 12v fan

      thanks

        Yes...

Most units will State NC or NO status as being NOT energised..

        Ignoring your input/assumptions..

The drawing you provided would be what I expect with NO POWER applied.

        i.e. 3-4 NC

        With power then;

        3 - 4 = open and 4 - 2 should be Closed.
