  • Coffee Snob Petrolheads?

I know boutique coffee and fast (preferably noisy) cars seem like passtimes from opposite ends of the spectrum. But Ill unashamedly admit to being a petrolhead
Whats kindled the fire (Im a sensible family man now ) is a young fellow at work who is a deadset car nut. Im now regretting the (forced) sale of my HX ute when I got a company vehicle. The HX was heavily modified: lowered, 4-wheel discs, chipped 5.0L EFI motor, 5speed manual box, Simmons rims, upgraded coils, shocks and swaybars, matching momo seats and sports steering wheel....... you get the picture ;D I have a picture somewhere, Ill dig it up

So who else is a petrolhead? Tell me about you favorite motor.

Yeah a bit of a petrol head, had different rotary cars all ported to varying degrees but now driving a Honda Type R thats alot of fun but its getting to small to put the kids in the back so am looking to change.

Perhaps its time for a VE SS sedan or something, not sure just yet.

These days i perfer to watch motor racing and leave the spending on machines to others but its always nice to go look at and admire the handywork of others with the passion

        Rx7 series 2 83 model.
huge build thread on ausrotary (rotary forum).
        12a turbo & EFI.

currently undergoing mk 3 build with a HKS T51R SPL turbo.
pretty much building the car around the turbo.
        current boost= 12psi with a s5 turbo.
t51r spl will be running 25 psi minimum on a built motor.

        cheers.

I am an indentured and qualified motor mechanic (now retired)

In a family owned business in Newcastle (all relatives)
I specialised in rebuilding motors and generally hotting up street registered and naturally aspirated (carburettor) cars for quarter mile drag racing

                Also did many boats

My main area of expertise was carburettors, manifolds and cams

                      Re: Coffee Snob Petrolheads?

I think youll find a few CS Petrol heads will come out of the garage!

Ive got an American car, which is about to get taken off the road and have some dollars spent on interior and some exterior refurbishment...its a 5 litre V8 pickup. Its only showing its age, rather than anything major. I mean, who puts velour in a car!? :

I watched the Top Gear guys the other night put the new Camaro up against a Mercedes and I mean, seriously...the Merc is a souless piece of sanitised German manufacturing, the Camaro is just pure American over the top brashness! Loved it! I am kicking myself we didnt get an early model Camaro a few years ago when you could snaffle one for 25 grand or so...now youre hard pressed to find one under 40 grand!!

Along with the Chevy in the garage, I have a Ducati 900ss, a 125cc Aprilia scooter and soon to be hopefully arriving, a Toyota Hilux, the turbo diesel of course!! ;D

Ahhhh i was drooling over the Camaro on topgear the other night too, gotta love topgear 3 night a week! hehe

Currently driving a VY Commodore, selling though to make way for my SS work ute, and just brought a Kingswood HZ to do up.

Brewman my partner is about to start doing up his HX ute - would love to see some pics of yours. Bet that was a sad day when it sold
